The cartoon takes on the concept of political correctness and has an air of the taboo about it. Much of its humor depends on shock value.
Tune in to hear: Mark Knopfler

They have actually admitted to being Republicans in public of all places. Well not actually/just in public.
It was on stage at the Sundance Film festival.
You know sometimes I really wish Trey & Matt would make if clear to people that they are not Dem-liberals.

You know sometimes I really wish Trey & Matt would make if clear to people that they are not Dem-liberals. How clear to do you have to be when you have announced it in public and you have South Park that has ripped libs apart for 7 years now. People started realizing this from just actually watching the show way before Trey & Matt even declared themselves Republicans.
Listen to the DVD commentary.
But I do agree with you. Maybe they should. I would like to see it happen just so I could come on here and post it to prove O.C. wrong. Anyway, good post

Is that all it takes for you to respect someone? Today, Republicans come in all shapes and sizes. You got some who like to hang out in log cabins, some who are huckster televangelists and the list goes on. Parker and Stoned are in it for one thing. Themselves. If they can convince you to pay your ten bucks at the theater, they'll say whatever you want to hear. The perfect definition of the libertine businessman. Besides, celebrities love being caricatured in their little cartoons. It maines that they are still in the public eye. It's a small segment of the South Park viewers who pick up on the political references. Not because the scripts are subtle, but because the typical South Park patron is functionally illiterate.
What?

I taped the Tonight Show because one of you had mentioned that the two South Punks would be on. Dennis Miller made a few good zingers toward Kerry/Edwards, albeit some were unnecessarily vulgar. As for the South Park twins, Parker and Stoned, what I saw were two thirty+ year old males who jumped around like little boys talking about their new puppet show. Their behavior is indicative of a generation of males who, for the most, hope that one day a strong female will come along and sweep them off their feet. Or perhaps in their case, they're not looking to join with a female, I can't tell. They've got the androgynous nerd look down pat.

Look, just because you don't like them it gives you no right to insult me or anyone else here. The only reason I watch at my age is for the political and not very subtle references. As for being functionally illiterate you could use the spell check feature yourself. Sorry if they don't fit your idea of a Republican, I guess Trent Lott is more to your liking.
