Sure sounded like he was planning on a draft? Too bad they couldn't question each other directly.

Bush could have shot back "Are you planning on instututing a draft for military service?"

What did you think about Kerry saying that we should have bilateral talks with North Korea rather than the talks that include China, South Korea, Japan and Russia in addition to the U. S.??

You weren't kidding--he's all over the place!

Also, he keeps saying we don't have enough troops, while simultaneously planning to withdraw them as soon as possible. Huh?

I think POTUS and his team realize the real outcome of the debate is going to be determined by revealing Kerry's lies.

Bill Weld said that Kerry was so effective in making things up during the debate that it contributed to him being beaten during the Senate race in Mass. Weld said he wasn't able to challenge him on his "facts".

All this changes in pajamaland!

Here is another one ... just not true, Shinsheki retired as planned.

They avoided even the advice of their own general. General Shinsheki, the Army chief of staff, said you're going to need several hundred thousand troops. Instead of listening to him, they retired him.

the Bush Debate strategy in my opinion was to let the Horse Whisperer just ramble on, knowing that he is given to telling lies and making misstatements, and that those would be picked up in the media, i.e.,Rush,Fox, FReepers, etc., and they would be transmitted to everyone everywhere...If that is true, it may just work...

Kerry: I visited the KGB HQ in Treblinka Square (Treblinka was a concnetration camp - not a square in Moscow) - had Bush made such a gaffe MSM would have been all over him.

Kerry: There were 40 or 50 countries more capable than Iraq of building nuclear weapons

Which countries are those?? Has IAEA been alerted?

The pundits on Swedish Radio are in agreement on one point; this debate will not change anything. Basically a draw - no major mistakes or policy surprises.

Someone has to post a pic of Mr. Ed and Kerry side by side to verify that the Dems didn't nominate a horse....

Here is the relevant language from the Resolution that Kerry voted in favor of:

Whereas the current Iraqi regime has demonstrated its continuing hostility toward, and willingness to attack, the United States, including by attempting in 1993 to assassinate former President Bush and by firing on many thousands of occasions on United States and Coalition Armed Forces engaged in enforcing the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

This has become a bit of petpeeve for me because no-one on our side ever mentions this fact in discussions about why Hussein constituted a threat. The only public figures I have seen or heard comment about this are Donald Rumsfeld, Victor Hanson and Michael Medved. Hanson, however, is the only one who has made the important argument that if we are not prepared to go to war when someone is routinely firing missiles at our people, then we have learned absolutely nothing from 9/11.

One question:

WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD EVEN SUGGEST CANCELLING A WEAPONS SYSTEM (NUCLEAR OR CONVENTIONAL) WHILE OUR COUNTRY IS ENGAGED IN A WAR WITH TROOPS IN HARM'S WAY?

Our troops have security in knowing that in the worst case scenario, they evacuate and big things that go boom are dropped.

**.If that is true, it may just work...**

I think you are correct here. I was really upset at first, and then I started realizing how many mistakes, lies, gaffes Kerry actually made!

In other words -- We won! And W Won with this strategy!

Good point! As I said on another thread, how will this play with all of the Polish-Americans in the Midwest, Ohio and Wisconsin in Particular?

Thanks for link.

The "Global Test" is certainly the big one, the one Kerry will have to defend for the rest of the campaign.

The "WMD's are crossing the borders" is another bloomer - a huge one!

Wants coalition on Iraq, but bi-lateral talks with North Koreans.

Essentially, you can sum what Kerry stands for in one fragment: anything Bush doesn't stand for.

No sane person would ever go there.

It will never play with American public.
