Friends & family,
I received this from a friend whose young son has served 3 tours in Iraq. I know there are so many soldiers over there that do not have anyone here at home to hear from. I have asked a friend over there now to please send names of soldiers who need mail. It doesn’t matter what your feelings are about this war, our precious troops need our support.
Thanks to those of you who wish to send this soldier a note of encouragement. It doesn’t have to be wordy or long. Just for him to be of good faith and courage and to know that we are thinking about him.

I wrote him and mentioned that he would be welcomed here on FreeRepublic if he ever has time to log on. I told him if he mentioned he was serving in a war zone he would be very warmly welcomed. I know all you freepers won't disappoint him if he ever contacts us.

Thank you for sending this info. I'll tell my daughter's school about this and see if there are any volunteer moments to communicate with a real hero of their day....not just a name in a history book!
