Be prepared..... our president is much more powerful in person. I've seen him 3 times in the last month or so, and each time, I've been moved by his presence. His heart, character, and integrity shines through even more in person than on tv.
And I have to tell you, I am jealous! Your kids are still young and dependant on you. Mine are grown now, and although I am still very close to them, it's not the same as the days when I was packing their lunches and driving them to school everyday.....:)
How excellent. Have a wonderful time and be sure to come back and tell us all about your Valley Forge adventure with the President.
I am, however, eaten up with envy!
Actually, I meant Jim Tressel when I said Mike Trammel. I'm definitely too tired, because I couldn't remember and guessed his name. But I remember Ohio State beating Miami in one of the best games I've ever seen. They may not have been the best team on the field, but they had more heart. Miami showed up and assumed they were gonna win. The Buckeyes came to play and they wanted it more.
BTW - I've created the first track map off of my new software. Darn cool. Won't be a regular yet as I'm still getting through the 281-page manual. :)
How far are you from San diego? Ihave a Pubbie/single cousin there. would like to link him up with others. He is new to area.
That is good. very good.
manuals. hmmmm.. the "engineer type" use them. The rest of us muddle along & wonder why things don't work right.
Thanks
Got it. I'll put the corrected version up tomorrow. Thanks.
That's a game I will never forget! I watched it with family and friends, and we all went crazy after the win! We took alot of grief from disgruntled Miami fans, though..LOL
Looking back, one of my favorite moments was going to the Buckeye Hall of Fame Cafe with my family shortly after.
I took a picture of my (late) daddy and my mom, and my daughter (who played basketball for Ohio State) in front of the National Championship Trophy.
But I was watching Hannity and Colmes in Fox tonight, and Colmes was interviewing John O'Neill and made the comment to John about the "free fire zone".
My question/comment is this (sort of long):
Kerry in 1971 told the Senate
We learned the meaning of free-fire zones--shooting anything that moves--and we watched while America placed a cheapness on the lives of orientalsHowever, a free fire zone as defined as where military personnel were given the right to use their own discretion, which in fact could be that they would NOT fire on civilians.
Then in the debate between John O'Neill and Kerry on the Dick Cavett Show Jun 30, 1971, there was this exchange
O'NEILL [to Kerry]: Can you tell me about any war crimes that occurred in [our] unit, Coastal Division 11? I never saw anything, and I'd like you to tell me about the war crimes you saw committed there.
KERRY: Did you serve in a free fire zone?
O'NEILL: I certainly did serve in a free fire zone.
KERRY: [Reading] "Free fire zone, in which we kill anything that moves - man, woman or child." This practice suspends the distinction between combatant and non-combatant and contravenes Geneva Convention Article 3.1.
O'NEILL: Where is that from?
KERRY: Geneva Conventions. You've heard about the Geneva Conventions. Yes, we did participate in war crimes in Coastal Division 11 because we took part in free fire zones, harassment, interdiction fire, and search-and-destroy missions. [Didn't you] see huts along the sides of the rivers that were totally destroyed? You never burned a village?
O'NEILL: No, I never burned a village, that's absolutely correct. We'd never do anything dishonorable.
The "where is that from" that John O'Neill said was referring to Kerry's comment "Free fire zone, in which we kill anything that moves - man, woman or child." It was not the latter part of the comment. So Kerry never said where he got that source of information.
The Geneva Convention article Kerry referenced does not mention free fire zones. And free fire zones do not, by definition, violate the Code Kerry referred to:
Article 3My question is, where did Kerry come up with the idea that a free fire zone is where you kill anything that moves? In the case of armed conflict not of an international character occurring in the territory of one of the High Contracting Parties, each party to the conflict shall be bound to apply, as a minimum, the following provisions:
1. Persons taking no active part in the hostilities, including members of armed forces who have laid down their arms and those placed hors de combat by sickness, wounds, detention, or any other cause, shall in all circumstances be treated humanely, without any adverse distinction founded on race, colour, religion or faith, sex, birth or wealth, or any other similar criteria.
And, Kerry said that he (Kerry) committed war crimes. How can we have him arrested, and tried by his own words?

I started with the muddling approach. I realized this was really sophisticated software (ought to be, cost a pretty penny, but I still wasn't prepared for how slick it was!), so I figure I ought to figure out how to make it work well!
modified... not corrected.
:)
I don't know the answer to your question but was listening to that exchange tonight and thought it was very curious that Kerry had so mis-interpreted (willfully?) the meaning of a free fire zone.
Hopefully we will hear more about this, although Old Media certainly didn't take the time to ask ONE single question of Kerry regarding Vietnam.
I am frustrated, but I'm not quitting. I will be at the gym tomorrow morning and I will walk my 2 miles.
Thanks for the encouragement. I meant to write earlier, but I had Bible Study and then I've been diverted.
Before I forget, JT has been accepted at Covenant College and will start in January 2005. Yippee!
Great Photo!
Covenant College? On Lookout Mountain? My oldest has been looking into that school more than any other and I was asking her about it just this evening. She won't graduate until 2006, but right now Covenant has the inside track.
Covenant College? I know covenant college. .
great.
have you heard anything of your test results?
