What IS it with Demorats and politicing in churches? I thought that they were so big on separation of church and state. And it also seems to primarily be demorats in black churches. You don't see them real often in white churches.

People who are "at risk" and are advised to get the flu shot are advised to do so because of complications from the flu, especially pneumonia. If you can't get a flu shot, docs often recommend getting a pneumonia shot.

I've gotten a flu shot in the past at the insistence of my hubby, since he wanted everyone who was around his mother to be immunized. She had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and cancer (she didn't smoke) and a bout with the flu could very well have killed her. I never had a reaction to the shot.

WHY do they need to put Mercury in the flu shot?

I still like Nully's take, that this could be the answer to the looming Social Security, and other financial, debacles...just kill off a bunch of the "useless feeders" and balance the books.

Only a bit more seriously, because it is a cheaper preservative for the vaccines is the reason.

I never had a reaction, that I know of, either, but I've not had the shot in three years, and plan not to have any others.

I've had the shot maybe twice in the last 5 years. I may consider it again when the day arrives that I'm elderly and have other health issues. If you have respiratory or heart disease, or have your immune system compromised in any way, getting the flu can kill you. Course, if I'm that tweaked, continuing to live might not be all that desirable an outcome. Sometimes, it's just time to go!

I have had the flu shot every year since about 1965-66. Prior to that I was a regular on Mr. Flu's call list.

I've only had the flu once or twice in the past 15 years. One of those times was pretty memorable, since I got siiiiiccckkk and followed it up with bronchitis. It was ghastly. But other than that, my usual winter maladies consist of a cold or two, and possibly an obnoxious sinus infection. I don't, and haven't, gotten the flu shot on a regular basis, just for a few years in the late 90's so that I wouldn't pass it along to my mom-in-law. She passed away from her chronic disease in Jan. of 2000, so I haven't been at all faithful about getting a flu shot. I think I've gotten one twice in that time, but didn't get the flu in the years I didn't get the shot.

With Mrs.L's MS diagnosis, we have more "supplements" than many GNC stores, so I'm not all that worried about contracting the flu, or much of anything else since we began taking everything from A - Z.

I can't wait to get the "Ageless Xtra" and see what that's about.

Details at 10:00.

I detect a note of biting sarcasm in that remark.
