People who are "at risk" and are advised to get the flu shot are advised to do so because of complications from the flu, especially pneumonia. If you can't get a flu shot, docs often recommend getting a pneumonia shot.
I've gotten a flu shot in the past at the insistence of my hubby, since he wanted everyone who was around his mother to be immunized. She had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and cancer (she didn't smoke) and a bout with the flu could very well have killed her. I never had a reaction to the shot.
I never had a reaction, that I know of, either, but I've not had the shot in three years, and plan not to have any others.
I have had the flu shot every year since about 1965-66. Prior to that I was a regular on Mr. Flu's call list.
I know that Cheri. The elderly and those whose immune sytems are already compromised are the ones that are the most vigorously urged to get the shot. I wasn't meaning that NOT a single person should be immunized. As for myself, I don't need it.!!
