He's fine, it happened a few years ago. Only about one person each year dies from a bat bite in the U.S. Like with rattlers, a lot of the time, it's some idiot showing off and molesting the creature. Even with sick bats, ninety to 95% are not rabid. 99% of rabies deaths worldwide come from DOGS.
On top of it, bats do far more insect control (e.g. mosquitoes) than most people know. They are a strong ally against insect-borne diseases too.

Is that the skull-on-the fencepost thread? The poster is now saying that the neighbor assured it that it is a monkey skull, so it's cool. I posted a photo of a monkey skull just so she has something for comparison purposes. I am really stunned by that thread.
I have had a bat box hanging on my house for two years now. So far, no bats. And I really wanted them for insect control.
Yes, I was talking about the skull thread. I think we have been had, though. Or if not, it is most bizarre thread I have seen here.
I have also been thinking we've been had. The poster's style is, um, juvenile, to say the least. It is just too unbelievable that anyone could be that dense. Monkey skull? I usually, as mentioned previously, toss crickets into the air for them.
And they help keep the mosquito population down.
And since West Nile was found in the mosquitos in Greenville Township where I live, and the envrio-wackies won't let anyone do anything to control them, the next best thing is to have LOTS of bats..
But...he's such a trouper... :-)
Wow, that is really neat! I wish you could get some bats to move in. Have you talked to a local expert? I get upset whenever someone is persecuting or needlessly fearful about bats... Not DS, he was just goading me............................................I think :)
The morons at the U of A (probably the same ones bringing in M. Moore to speak) got rid of all the bats hanging at the football stadium. Within two years, the mosquitoes are out of control in the central part of town closest to the U, and much worse everywhere else too.
