In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
plaudit \PLAW-dit\,noun:
plaudits; noun, plural
1. A round or demonstration of applause.
2. Enthusiastic approval; an expression of praise.
The aim of the wise man was no longer the plaudits of the masses but autarkeia, or self-sufficiency.
--Peter France, Hermits: The Insights of Solitude
Etymology: Latin plaudite, "applaud" (said by players at the end of a performance), from plaudere, "to applaud."
TOPICS: Education; Humor; Poetry; Word For The Day

Al Gore was famous in year 2000 for trying to dig up his old Tennessee farming days to "relate to" the folks back home.
So, he always was talkin' about the plowdits he done did back on his uncle's farm in the hills.
Too bad John Kerry didn't try to plow his way up the river in Vietnam.

I think it's safe to say there are very few
plaudits for
Dan Rather's use of forged memos, and I offer enthusiastic
plaudits to the pajama brigade (bloggers) who exposed his lack of investigative skills. Of course, Dan is still bitter about his failure to propel
stupid al to the presidency four years ago, he could
spit a ludicrous amount of vile substances out of his mouth, nose, and @$$ simultaneously. As
Chuck Colson observes in this column, you will not find anything in the kerry campaign arsenal that is remotely
staid; plugs from various "independent" groups on his behalf range from baseless to vicious. These kerry supporters, who gladly cover Boy Scout Color Guards and US Soldiers with
spit, laud kerry for his Viet Nam "heroics" in what can be called nothing other than brazen hypocrisy. But still, kerry sings "I can't get no voter traction" in a pathetic imitation of Mick Jagger. He can't understand why public opinion isn't coming around in his direction. After all, with the support of the same media, bill and hillary clinton were able to overcome their serious ethical challenges. Even
lust paid off for bill when the media was able to change the subject from perjury and obstruction of justice to "it's just about getting
laid, stupid!" It's almost enough to make one
sad; up til now, Ra
ther still had most of the population convinced that he was a "journalist" in spite of numerous instances of deception like this
item described by Thomas Sowell. Here's a piece of unsolicited advice for Ra
ther and kerry: The next time you get ready to say "It's Bush's fau
lt", I'd pause and give a passing thought to whether or not there is even a shred of credibility to your charge. In today's environment of greater access to information, as
David Limbaugh points out in his column, the disengenuous and hateful bias of leftists in the media like Ra
ther is on full o
ut display.
Thank you, thank you very much

Mornin', everybody ! Happy Friday! TGIF!!

THE CLINTONS AND BASEBALL
During the previous administration Bill and Hillary are at a Yankees Game; sitting in the first row, with the Secret Service people directly behind them.
One of the Secret Service guys leans forward and says something to Bill. First Clinton stares at the guy, looks at Hillary, looks back at the agent, and shakes his head violently.
The agent then said, "Mr. President, it was an unanimous request from the owner of the team down to the bat boy."
What really gets Bill going is when the agent tells him the fans would love it!
So Bill just shrugs his shoulders and says, "If that is what the people want."
Then Bill gets up, grabs Hillary by her collar and the seat of her pants, and drops her right over the wall into the field.
She gets up kicking, swearing, screaming, and the crowd goes wild. They're cheering, applauding, and high-fiving.
Bill is bowing and smiling, and leans over to the agent and says, "You were right, I would have never believed that!"
Then noticing the agent has gone totally pale, he asks what is wrong.
The agent replies, "Sir, I said, they want you to throw out the FIRST PITCH!"

Alan Keyes will be at the Republican Decatur, IL HQ (corner of Water and William Streets), on Friday, September 24 at 6:30. I am hoping to get a group of supporters there to add their plaudits.
