Well it seemds like some FReepers want me to shut up and NOT post on threads.
They call it spamming.
Well if I didn't post the way I do the dims and media wouldn't notice.
Just ask yourself why did FOX finally run the Steve Pitkin story today?
Why did Rush mention that Edwards never served when he could have last week?
And do me a favor, come directly to me, not the Admin Moderator if you have a complaint.
So I'll shut up and toe the line.
I'd hate to upset certain FReepers.

Fawnn ~~~ you may be just the person to help me out with something I want to do and don't have the skills or know-how to deal with.

Several people are now posting dan's name as Ra^ther.

I want to do my own version of that ... Rat^heR ... only I want the R to be backwards like in the logo for Toys-R-Us. Then it would read "Rat he R".

Can you find a backwards R and do up something that I could copy and post on my profile page for using at appropriate times.

You're quite clever at doing things like that but I don't know if backwards letters are in your repoirtoire.

Yes, I have seen people say the same thing to me when I ping them with a picture attached. Some people do not have the fast internet access which accommodates some of these pings and posts.

Tonk, can I make a suggestion here? If we are talking about pings, maybe it would be a good idea to ping to a thread without adding all of the stuff on your link post. Follow your ping post with the link post on each thread. This should help make it easier for those who have slower modems and don't like scrolling on their comments page. I have had to do that so that I do not irritate the people I ping.

I'll tell you one particular spate of posts that is nothing but spam (and, I'll admit, I've responded to) because it has nothing at all to do with the mission of FreeRepublic and which uses up enormous amounts of bandwidth with heavy graphic-intensive replies to each person who responds are the so-called Freeper Canteen posts, such as "What are your favorite sweets?" I have wondered if someone does this specifically for the purpose of straining the server with all the "Welcome to the Canteen!" replies.

If you frequent the Canteen you'd see.. usually right near the top, Tonkin posts directions for how to turn OFF the graphics, making that thread load faster.

The Canteen serves a wonderful purpose for our troops and their families. I've made GREAT friends with wives of servicemen who've been in Iraq...they felt as if they had NO WHERE TO GO...till they found that thread.

I can do it in Word via Insert | Symbol, but the backwards R changes when I copy/paste it here.

The only way I'd know how to do it would be to create a graphic of the letter R, mirror it, and then paste that letter into the image with the rest of the letters.
