Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

It's like a train wreck. Can't look away. Can't believe how anyone could be so... stupid, either.

Or at the very least he darn well needs to learn to cover it up better. He will need a lot better lying skills than that to succeed in engineering (or whatever tech field he wanted to do at VT).

Heh...engineering is not even on his radar screen. He wants to do video production. Of course, Mom and Dad have told him that our alma mater would be a better option (we have a training ground for interns for the Olympics).
He wants to go to Tech to play football. It's a dream we're willing to let him have. And we're even willing to work with him to get there.
I dunno. Maybe he realizes (like Mom and Dad do) that it's a long shot and this is his way of making it not happen...

Video production? ooo that takes more refined lying skills than engineering.

Prayer request time...
Nana is NOT doing well in the nursing facility. She cannot move, is in constant pain and today there is a "redness" in both of her feet. Wife is trying to figure out what to do. Nana may have to go back to the hospital, but if it's not an emergency, Medicare won't pay for the transport and we're simply over committed tomorrow for being able to take her...not that we could move her anyway...
To make matters worse, the sister here is having "issues" and has only been to see Nana once in a week...
So...I don't know what all this means.
I cannot say this at home (or outloud anywhere), but since this happened I have had a great sense of dread that this is the beginning of the "great decline." I hope I am wrong, but I wonder if she will "ever" come home.

That's a tough situation to deal with. My prayers are with you on that.

Was only a year and a half ago I had that silent thought about Grama. I have had a no-tears day of good remembrance today. Today would have been her 87th birthday. :-)

Thanks, both of you.
That's a good sign WN. (((WN))). I know it hasn't been easy.
I dunno. Papa fooled us for years. So, she may well pull out of this just fine.

Thank you.
In other news, wife is already moving ahead with Jr's "issues."
She told him "We're not going to go thru that again this year. And, if that's the way you're gonna be, you'll have to find somewhere else to live."
dang, she's good.

Today would have been her 87th birthday. :-)Don't know why I never realized that Grama and my Mama were so close in age. Mama would have been 85 on Aug. 20th., but she was celebrating in heaven for sure, as your Grama is!
