Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

If you have it 2-3 hours before bed that might be part of the issue. Bodies kick in some extra energy to counter act the relaxing effects of alcohol and that takes a while to wear off even after the alcohol is gone. If I have a beer about 2 hours before bed it is harder to get to sleep. But if I have one less than an hour before it is easier. If it is more than 3 hours before sleep the effect seems neutral. Also I find it slightly harder to get up in the morning if I had any alcohol the night before.
Then there are mornings that nothings seems to be a factor but the warm comfiness of the bed in the morning :P

Yawn... we'll have to see. The problem is really that I'm a natural night owl. I'd rather be up until two, and in bed until 10...

~sigh~
Wife called a little while ago. Seems Jr. "said" he did his Algebra homework, but she found it on the table..undone. That's a zero on the second flippin' day of school. Apparently he did NOT learn a lesson.
We've spent two weeks telling him that he's got to shoot for straight A's if he wants to have a prayer of getting into Virginia Tech.
For now, however, we have a laptop...

I love the idea of a HHK being in the library...but I also think he'd really use one too!I'll call the dealer, and order three knives without any engraving, and with the blank backs. I'll try to polish one to a mirror finish, and then have Highest Honors do the engraving. If it works, that will be the prototype, which will remain in the Hobbit Hole Mathom House. Then I'll do the other two.
If we get that far, someone might be able to come up with a presentation case a bit more fancy than the original cardboard box.

Oh...he'll be doing it tonite.
I have feeling that wife will have seen to that by the time I get home. I'll be reviewing it and "helping" him study his Spanish.
He is officially "offline" for the week. And if I find that he has signed on to the PC when we aren't there, I will lock his butt out of the system.
(woo hoo, co-worker who was a delegate to the convention just brought me a vey cool t-shirt)

Heh...he goes in spurts with eating, I'm not sure he'd care.
Wife's first thought was to make him sit with her during choir practice tonite and to miss youth group.
These are all good suggestions and I'm making a list, 'cause it appears I'll be needing them.

Honestly, I do have sympathy for him because school can be so boring. But it's still your job to make sure he gets educated... we're all on yuor side, Corin.

I don't give a rip if he's bored. He can be bored all he wants.
What he can't do is lie...

Heh. Email I got yesterday.
Tough Love vs. Spanking
Most of America's populace thinks it very improper to spank children, so my spouse and I have tried other methods to control our kids when they have one of "those moments".
One that we found very effective is for me to just take the child for a car ride and talk.
They usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our little car ride together.
I've included the photo below of one of my sessions, with our son, in case you would like to use the technique.
Its very effective!

Did the Religious Forum just get another talking-to?
Man... and did the insane thread ever get pulled?

In small doses, it makes you feel like you've had a bad shroom. Or like your beeber's been stuned.
