The upside is it only takes about 1/10th of a brain so I can sit here and freep whilst the laptop is installing next to me.
Yeah...watching blue lines grow doesn't usually take much mental concentration...
Ugh...I want chocolate!
I'm gonna have Mexican for lunch... we girls are going out and studying over spice - quiz this afternoon in AI.
That's cause he didn't have 'dumbed down grammar'! Most second graders don't study grammar much at all; they're still learning the mechanics of reading!
Heh, I'm not sure I want to know! ;~D
I like "Shirley Grammar."
What pleases me the most is that he retained it! He did second grade 3 years ago and still remembers it. I'm sure it's been reinforced over the years but still...I'm glad.
He's learning all these properties in Math right now...commutative, distributive, zero, associative, and one more...can't remember.
helps if I spell it right...
Shurley
I have noticed that kids don't diagram sentences the way they used to. Wonder if that is because of the dumbing down thing.
The jedis | are funny.
Possibly. We used to draw two lines underthe predicate, and only one under the subject. Transitive verbs took a vertical line whereas intransitive verbs took a back slanted line. Then there were all the ooky phrases and clauses. By the tiem we were done diagramming a long sentence, it looked like a tree.
Gonna have lunch with PE today. Gotta go.
Bye.
I learned sentencing diagramming... IMO, it's overrated. Knowing the parts of speech is important. But if they read enough and speak well, putting together a proper sentence is natural.
Honestly, I can't remember how to diagram a sentence, but I know what a prepositional phrase is, how to make subject and verb agree, and the difference between their/there/they're. That's about as much as you really need...
I'd just get depressed.
I'm the one who gets depressed... she had two kids by my age, and I can't imagine being that responsible.
*sigh*
In less than three weeks, I'll be the age my Mom was when she had me. Lot older than your Mom was.
Last month or so, I keep dreaming of a baby girl. Odd, 'cause I always thought growing up that I'd like a boy first. I know if it were REALLY to happen, I'd be overjoyed with either...but it's funny how often that baby shows up! Sweet little almost bald-headed blonde baby...with big dark blue eyes.
Again...*sigh*
"Rose was in the dining room on the phone, and she kept motioning for us to keep the noise down so she could hear her conversation."
ROFL! Tell that noisy volcano not to bother Rose while she's talking :)
I dreamed that President Bush was debating with the Frankenstein Monster about a global test and--oh, wait, that wasn't a dream. . .
Durn right. That's a flippin' nightmare!
"That's a flippin' nightmare!"
Or a floppin' nightmare!
