Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

We're weirdoes, aren't we? For an instant I has this idea of how the "Shooes of Power" would sound to an outsider...

Could you folks keep my Aunt Gertrude's family in your prayers? I just found out that she died this morning. She had been in treatment for leukemia, and developed pneumonia while in the hospital and couldn't fight it. I didn't even know she was ill! I talked to my cousin just a little while ago, and he said the leukemia had only been discovered five weeks ago, but it was very aggressive.
They live in Providence, so I'm going down there for the wake and funeral, whenever they are scheduled. She's survived by my uncle Frank, who is in his 90's now, and their two younger sons, who are in their 50's. Their oldest son died about 9 years ago.

I prefer the term "eccentric". ;-)Well, we Southerners never hide our 'eccentrics'. We put them out there on the front porch for the whole town to see and admire! ;o)

Well I'm up to adding the fireplace, but the last I heard it was around $14/sq. ft. for hardwood floors.
To: SuziQ
I most certainly will, Suzi!
My neighbor's husband died this morning too. They had been married for 61 years and were as charming a couple as you could ever hope to meet.
Sure puts things in perspective, doesn't it?

While I'm sure ksen has more important things to worry about... Samurai7 and Madlax both just got licensed, which means it's going to be tricky to keep watching it. I don't think either is as insanely popular as FMA, so finding a group that's still willing to sub is tricky.
Darn! Now I have to wait a year and then buy the dvds, because even if they show it on tv it'll be some stinky dub. Ah well... at least FMA will be properly mine soon...

They sure did, Suzi!
I have to share this pic I took of Alyson last night. It may replace the bunny and pancake pic. :-)

You can also see how one of her front teeth has gone dark. That's from when she fell in the tub a month ago. Poor baby!

Msdrby and I met a gentleman at church today whose son is a Marin Lance Corporal in Najaf. One of the guys who was fighting in the cemetary. Msdrby has his APO address written down, and will forward it.
We told this Marines's da about our 'troop support' efforts, but didn't mention that HH knives directly. We want to surprise the Marine.

*shudder* I'd hate to think that big splotchy sunflower wallpaper would come back in style. Heh...my livingroom has that on two walls and yellow/orange/avocado stripes on the other two.
It's so hideous, it kinda grows on ya...
Like fungus...
