The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Can I read instead of cleaning my bathroom?

Like I won't do it anyway. Probably. I've just wasted a bunch of time on the computer when I shoulda been working.

Feeling meloncholy this afternoon. I've been reading all the old "Anne of..." books. Seems like everyone ends up paired off.

Sometimes it's hard to live in the moment and not worry about five or ten years from now.

I could write volumes of sad and bitter junk if NaNo was goin' on.

Speaking of time, as I was driving home today, I ended up in back of a guy in an old car - I would say from the late seventies or early eighties. He had a couple of faded bumper stickers on it, and at one point I got close enough to see one of 'em. It was a campaign sticker for Bush / Quayle! Kewl...

You don't need a starter. I think the ratio is 1 part "green"(grass clippings and other plant matter that is still green) to 2 parts brown (dead leaves). You can put manure in but don't use cat or dog poop. I also put in non-meat food scraps including egg shells and coffee grounds. Earthworms like coffee grounds. I also put hair and fur in there. Keep the pile moist...like a damp sponge...and aerate it every now and then. It probably won't decompose much over the winter, though.

Okay...so the bank asked for 15k more to which I said "forget it" and this afternoon the house was no longer on the market.

Back to the drawing board.

DANG! Well, that obviously wasn't the house for you. It's still out there, and you'll find it! Do you have access to the MLS listings online? I like to just cruise through them to see what houses similar to ours are selling for these days.

Hang onto that sad and bitter junk. You can use it!

Seriesly, one way I make myself feel better when I'm down is tormenting my characters.

I'll be off and on, in between cleaning and putting away groceries and stuff.

I just search the real estate site and sometimes at realtor.com.

*Sigh* Little Joe went to town and got beat up. And somebody was trying to lynch ol' Ben.

Think I've got some wine around here somewhere. [sip]

I could do with some torturing.

It's just the continuing battle...I love it here, but I have no real friends outside my family, and there aren't social groups like there were when I was in the military. If you don't drink or are above the age of 20 or so, you're on your own.

I can't help but feel envious of Anne in that story. She got to find someone in the Avonlea she loved so much. Me...I seem to have missed the boat. ;-)

I'll be better in the morning. Sorry I whine so much.
