The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Personally, I think it's hilarious. I like being a national security risk!

Good Morning!

Do y'all remember this?

The yellowish door at the bottom is the inside of it, and shows the original color. The front (outside) has been sanded and primed, and gets painted today; I need some more screws befor I can mount the two lower doors.

After that, the countertop.

Good morning!

If the GLORIOUS red and orange and purple sunset we got last night was any indication, today is going to be a spectacularly beautiful day. You know...red sky at night and all that? But the weather forecasters are saying it's gonna turn to rain. Ah well. We've had so much lovely weather I can deal with a little damp for awhile.

Nice work on the cabinets, XGI! Someday I should do something with mine...though I admit my first inclination would be to paint them some outlandish color, like bright blue. ;-) I guess that isn't appropriate, though. But I do love color!

Jen, I think I ALMOST have my sixteen year old brother talked into doing NaNoWriMo...which I guess means *I* gotta do it. I still don't have even the foggiest beginning of a plot, though. Maybe I can do a crazy stream-of-consciousness kinda thing, I dunno.

Good morning Rosie. I've just got up and already feel like some should spray me with a hose after that homeschooling terrorist thread.

Great job on the cabinets, XGI! Where is that exactly? Kitchen?

The Hobbit Hole went through a time where I re-did my bathroom. Turned it from lime sherbet green to a nice cream color. They really seemed interested and I thought that was a bit odd until now, because I'm really interested in your endeavor!

I think it's a very good quality in a person that will undertake the task of making something look better. Or even just more to their taste. I love my hubby dearly, but if I didn't suggest repairs and such, I think he'd let a lot of stuff slide!

My main problem is that I feel helpless to do most repair or renovation jobs on my own, and I have no own to bug for help. *sigh* I used to have handy friends, but now I work with geeks! ;-)

And then, even if you do all the work, repairs cost money. But someday.

I am gonna have to go find this thread.

ExGeeEye - great work on those cabinets! That kind of stuff is fun and I love saving the charming old hardware.

This is true, sis. It's hard being a single woman. I remember. Before Steve, I lived in an apartment, so I never had it too bad. If I had a problem, I just called the manager. Still, there were times. Moving, for example. I always had a hard time moving and finding someone to help me with my big furniture.

There are about five or six threads at this point, I think.

I'd apply the popcorn smilie here, but I'm not sure if I'm *just* entertained, or a bit annoyed as well.

And I seem to have a knack for starting things I don't finish, 'cause I chicken out when I get to the hard spots. I.e. my office, which is still in a state of disrepair - I got the walls partly stripped and cleaned, but they still aren't painted, and it's going on years now. That's horrible. If I could whip myself for doing things like that, I would!

I'm such a horrible housekeeper. I dream of having a tidy little house where I could without any qualms invite people in for a cup of coffee, but I've never ever had it, and feel like I never ever could. I get so discouraged about it sometimes! I'm hopeless.

Hey, does Ecurb have a nice graphic he could ping the Ringers to for the Birthdays?

I take the jedis to their dentist today for their 6 month cleaning. This dentist isn't on our plan...he's a pediatric dentist and very good, but our insurance only pays 80%.

That's gonna leave a mark. Still, it's better than nothin'.

Reminds me of...wasn't there a stink a few years ago when someone came across a list of people Janet Reno had listed as security risks, which included Christians and gun owners?

I'm a Christian, ex-homeschooler, staunchly conservative...if I only owned a gun I'd meet every one of their "scary" criteria. I should look into it...heh!

Seriesly, I AM kinda thinking about looking into finding a local place where I might be able to learn how to handle something small, and maybe get into target practice. I think I'd enjoy it, and it'd be a good way to connect with people outside of church and music. I suppose any gun shop should know about clubs that might help people get started?

Which one? ;-)

I saw the guy I JUST turned down at the jam. It was pretty awkward, but I didn't really talked to him. Spent the whole evening avoiding catching his eye. But it'll get better with time.
