Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

It's always nice to see those long threads in other places, to tell you the truth.
Becomes like family, it does.

I started by giving you guys your due! :)
But you have a SUBJECT!! The Undead Thread just IS! And the current thread seems to be outdistancing this one (but we have to stop and sleep sooner or later).

I do need to get back down there... I really enjoyed that last trip. I even liked your steamy hot weather... :-) It just doesn't get like that around here.

Have missed a couple of Amazing Race eps here too... recorded them, but never got around to watching them. :/ Picked up watching last week though, just in time!
Man, that thread is still going? Undead Thread is a good name for it, LOL! ;)
BTW, as of post 3800, the Hobbit Hole is at 255,418 posts and counting. ;)

Mr. Fantastic (Dr. Reed) is WAY WAY WAAAAY tooo young!Welllll... these are early publicity stills, they may not have settled on the final makeup yet. Some touches of gray at his temples may be all he needs. ;)
By the way, welcome back to the Hobbit Hole! It's been over eight months since your last visit!

They're supposed to show it on H&C tonight. I've got it on, but haven't seen it yet!
Easier than trying to download on dial-up! ;-)

We have a subject? Once, maybe. Now we're just a mutual admiration society.

Where'd you go? Did I miss something? I was going to ask what your research project was. I may not understand it but I'd be happy to hear about it.

Cool :) The Thing seems most true to character, esp. in terms of casting. Sue and Johnny need to look "blonder" (not sure Jessica Alba fits Sue Storm's character) and Reed needs to look geekier. I don't know the actor playing Doom--hope they picked the right guy.

Nah, I was just reading for a bit.
Actually my research project - which is in the very early stages - is going to involve genetic algorithms. I'm using a simulator called "Framsticks" to build some little critters, then deathmatch them to see what parameters make a genetic algorithm most effective - high crossover, high mutation, or a combination of both. (Crossover means that half the information comes from each "parent"; mutation is, well, mutation).
If you're interested, check the "Evolution Examples: Movies" link at this page : http://www.frams.alife.pl/

I think I'm liking the Thing makeup... I was curious to see how they would do it with someone as well-known as Michael Chiklis in the role.
Jessica Alba will be more of a spunky Sue Storm than a demure one, I think! ;)
