The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Heh, just a little something I found this morning.

You all will have to excuse me. I took some cold medicine, so I feel a bit loopy tonight.

Since when do we geeks care what humanity thinks of us anyway? ;-)

As long as you enjoy it, let all the others go suck a lemon.

I had a meeting for the play today that went on for 3 hours. I was not impressed. I could tell that the director is the type who jumps from thought to thought without finishing the first one. It is going to be quite a task keeping him on track!

Bah... drinking and drugs are overrated on the fun meter, imho.

2-hour Amazing Race finale', woo-hoo!

But I just know it'll turn out great, chica. I can't wait to see it!

I have no idea how an entire Amazing race season wnt by and I saw only 2 episodes.

I am grappling with whether to TIVO this one or see it when broadcast.

Just stopped by to see how one of the Hobbit-Hole threads is doing. I know you guys have blown the back out once, but just thought you might want to see the new mega-thread in town. Just friendly rivalry :)

Everyone knows that these Hobbit threads hold the records. But the Undead Thread is well on its way into FR History.

:)

btw: I read LOTR trilogy when I was in Jr. High in the early 70's followed by the Silmarillion, The BOLT, even BOTR. In college I used to be able to write Elfin (based on ROTK in my edition). So I at least have my quals here :)

Mr. Fantastic (Dr. Reed) is WAY WAY WAAAAY tooo young!

But Jessica Alba makes up for it (sorta). Ben and Jonnie look about right (although Torch seems too old) .

LOL

Yep, well it is big and brawny and has developed a life of its own.

I claim it is a lifeform:

1. It feeds
2. It evacuates
3. It works to prolong it's existence
4. It uses tools
5. It dimly understands the parameters of the Universe within which it is constrained.

It can't reproduce yet, but reproduction (or at least the process to do so) is a subtext throughout the entire thread.
