vanity - does snakes have legs?

Posted on 08/26/2004 11:32:48 AM PDT by InvisibleChurch

i know that snakes don't have legs when they are born, but it's my understanding that snakes show some sort of leg growth while they are developing ... is this so and are there any pictures of this?

Bob Shrum has legs, so I'd have to say "Yes, some snakes has legs."

Some snakes, like boas and pythons, do indeed have vestigial hind legs. The most common explanation is that they are used as claspers during copulation.

You thought I was gonna be all smartassy, didn'tcha? ;)

You're quite welcome, and you know, when your life gets a bit messy, it's good to have the nice folks at Mutual of Omaha to turn to for...etc.
