Howdy.
Senator Kerry, as your tour over "Flyover Country" rolls on, it must be really hard on your stomachs. You and the missus like the finest cuisine and now have to look like you are eating like the locals. All the little people are so impressed! I know you must have been embarassed by the revelation that you ate on the bus at stop and threw the local food in the garbage. Gosh, maybe that's what you and the missus had a spat over recently: stayed in separate rooms. She might have even said "shove it". We all saw that you really didn't eat at Wendy's. I mean, everyone thought you were eating at Wendy's, but then you had some take out at a more "substantial" place for some decent food. I know that a wealthy "Uber" class person such as yourself wants to really eat the way you are used to. So, as a service to your campaign and your marriage, I am doing a little research on your next pitstop on the way to the White House.
After extensive research, it seems that the best restaurant at your next stop in Portland seems to be a place called Henry Ford's. They are four star rated. They even do carry out if you want to order for the people on the bus again. Look, you have to take a bite at Wendy's or at Philly cheese steak stand, but then you have to really DINE.
Here is the address:
Henry Ford's
9589 Southwest Barbur Boulevard
Portland, Oregon 97219
ph: 503.245.2434
Your palates shouldn't suffer while you are out on the stump to gain the office you so rich-ly deserve. -And if it costs a little more so what, the campaign is paying for it anyway.
Just trying to help.
Henry Ford's? If I recommended a good list of places to eat in Portland, that might be about 50th on the list.
Well, I'm not an Oregonian, but I do love that beautiful state. Our favorite restaurant in Portland is Jake's Famous Crawfish. Their etouffee is to die for.
I'll bet he makes doubly sure his itinerary takes him near a four or five-star restaurant every day. Yup, a real man of the people.
I hope they gag on it.
Well, you all know what I think the Kerrys should eat, but one of my favorite places in Oregon is Nick's Italian Cafe in downtown McMinnville. Right in the heart of the Willamette Valley wine country, with multi-course meals to impress even my ex-wife, who thought I had the culinary tastes of a pot-smoking ignoramus with the munchies.
I agree. Jake's is the place when in Portland.
Is that the steak house near that cool bookstore?
Ooops! Meant to ask if you knew the name of a steak place located near Powell's bookstore.
The Ringside
Henry Ford's is a steak house that has gawdy red valour all over the walls, hasn't been redecorated for 30 years and makes tough steaks and forces you to sit in smoke filled dining rooms. Other than that, it ain't bad. :)
Not my favorite Portland Restaurant. Yes, I would recommend Jake's!
Ive been following the fine dining escapades with much glee since the Wendy's debacle and I just love it! keep up the work
SShhhhhhh! It's a GREAT restaurant! WONDERFUL! Perfect for the Heinz-Kerrys to eat at! Right?!
He should have gone to the Goose Hollow Inn for grilled reubens...the best on the planet, or at least they were. My experience is from the early '70's. (Are they still there Portlanders?)
See post #14. Henry Ford's is just peachy. ;-)
Wu Lu Ming Restaurant (Chinese)
Rte 129
Billerica, MA
I like it there because there is never a crowd and you can always get a table, even on a Friday night (and it IS Friday night). They make their Scorpion Bowls strong and the Polynesian dishes are fantastic - spicy and hot.
There is a large bar off to the side where you can sip on another Scorpion Bowl after the game while the TV's show the Red Sox game or football.
Well, if that's the route we're going, why don't we tell him about our great Chinese place downtown, Hung Far Low. (Yes, that is the real name of it, out-of-towners.)
I see you haven't posted much today did
you have lunch with the "Kerry's"?

I presume you're talking about the same place that I went a few times 10 or so years ago. Back then, its name was Jake's Seafood; I had an absolutely marvelous pike dish.
That's a McCormick's restaurant; they own restaurants up and down the left coast, all good.
