Opinion: Message to some FReepers

A message to Freepers:
I invite all who participate to listen up. This is a serious message to those of you who post here. I am a christian conservative and firmly adhere to conservative values. I am a grandmother to be and I want my grandchildren to live an America like I grew up in. I realize that this is impossible now and want to make a difference. I want to keep my family safe from terrorism and safe from the liberal ideology being forced upon us. In this presidential election, I know that George Bush is the only clear choice and am working hard to make that a reality. That said...

If you weren't happy in a particular thread, then why didn't you move onto another? What's funny and interesting for one FReeper is not necessarily funny and interesting to another FReeper....different strokes for different folks.
I suggest you swallow your pride and stick around a little longer before making a final judgement.

Well what are you waiting for now....you've been here since March 15, 2004 {which also happens to be my birthday) and you still haven't mixed anything up with "the home folks"! :-}

Best advice regarding vanities is DON'T. There are exceptions, but they are few. If each of us only did one per year, that would still be dozens too many each day.
Most of us are not nearly the clever writers that we imagine ourselves to be.

"Send in the meek, gentle, well-meaning grandmothers to question our ways. Hilarious." [please someone tell me how to quote in italics]
For those of you who don't know yet, here's a hint: KingsKindred is a total fraud.
1) "listen up" is not a term used by persons who "finished" high school 35 years ago (but didn't graduate?)
2) A Christian would not write "christian."
3) What on earth is a grandmother-to-be?
4) This new-to-the-internet person with "little understanding" of forums figured out pretty quick how to post a topic...
5) Do conservatives speak of the media as "unsavory?" Hell, no. It's the effin liberal stinkin media!
6) KK retells how he or she was responded to as a "DU troll" for one of his first comments.
7) The responders are "childish." That is a classic lib characterization of conservatives.
8) KK learned quickly what a "Troll Patrol" is. [BTW, what is it? J/K]
Finally, what true conservative would come sign up on 7/28 and trash the place and all the people in it two weeks later?
I am really new here and I have done a bit of reading and I do not have any sense (maybe I should stop there - heehee) of there being any "insiders." I've been invited to the Canteen and all kinds of neat stuff, and have met people.
KK has succeeded in getting a LOT of attention and we know that is what THEY like.
End of opus.

LOL, I said I'm taking it slow and easy...I have done some photo shop pics of Kerry, etc. and drawn a few amateurish cartoons but I'll leave the hughly series, thoughtful and pointed conversations to the masters (this site is full of them!) You learn a lot here and have fun to boot!

This Grand Ma lurked a while, and learned the drill...learned I'd have to grow a thicker skin, don a flak jacket occasionally, and found a great place to share political views and other interests......I gradually learned the lingo, found out that there were helpful freepers to guide me and am now an honorary Viking Kitty...
I wasn't on that thread and know sometimes people can be too quick to pounce..but we are bombarded with disruptors and trolls..mistakes can be made..I enjoy some the great graphics and funny posts on a troll thread...
It isn't a great idea to start preaching and post a vanity when one is new........There are thousands of FReepers here..perhaps you need to search out a special thread and settle in...

Exactly. If you have been around here for X years and you post thoughtful comments, that's all everyone around her is interested in.
I also made a point about why JimRob puts his heart and soul into this forum. The truth of the matter is that this forum is for all to discuss, but we should remember what the premise is for this forum. If you don't like it, then go somewhere else. It's a free country.
And, you know, I have posted comments that I have "taken lumps" for ill-considered comments. But, hey, like in life, you make your bones, earn your rep', and move forward.
And, the truth of the matter is that there is simply not a better site on the web where you can news and information on just about every topic, from the extremely important to the extremely absurd. It is worth a monthly contribution just for that. (Speaking of which, everyone should make sure to DONATE on a monthly basis to keep FR humming along).

First let me say...
TROLL ALERT
No, not to KK but to myself. I can't possibly be legit as this is my first post...
Or is it? This is my first post under this name, because I was banned under other screen names for similar reasons that KK discusses.
Conform or be cast out...
Now maybe KK hasn't explained herself perfectly, but I get the gist of her post and observed the exact same things.
I would like to point out several things:
Many of you are very disrespectful of each other, as she mentions, and MOST of the replies to her post PROVE this. If you were serious about this forum and want newbies or lurkers to be serious about it (I mean deadly serious, the politics in this country are DEADLY SERIOUS) you should post as such.
Many onlookers will take this forum to be largely a joke. It is reduced to sophomoric levels almost always. I've been around here in one form or another for quite some time, so I know. As a nationally-recognized stronghold for conservatives, this forum has a responsibility to "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." This forum must be as intellectually honest and responsible as is possible. As a private institute, this fact can be ignored, but only at the expense of the forum's mission statement and this great country.
Many of you admonish KK that she should have done her homework and found out more about what this forum is about. WHY DON'T YOU DO YOUR HOMEWORK??? I DID. This "troll", "lurker" or whatever name you want to call me had enough respect for the truth and my perceived belief that this forum is to be largely serious that I DID MY HOMEWORK! Fancy that. I went back and looked at all the posts from KK and they certainly appeared to be very thoughtful and intellectually engaging.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/user-posts?name=KingsKindred
After doing your homework, the only way you will be able to label KK as a troll is to say she is the most clever dang troll of all. She posted dozens of conservative, on-topic responses and even started some topics herself. This does not fit the definition of a troll.
This person, KK, wanted a serious place to be heard. As I did. We were let down. Not by a small group of juveniles who are very cruel, but by the large majority who allows these idiots to continue their antics.
My conclusion about Freerepublic is that it is NOT a serious place to go for political doctrine. Those of us who hunger for more political insight and wisdom will most likely not find ourselves at home here. We don't tolerate too much sarcasm with respect to such a serious quest. A little, fine, but thread after thread after thread...NO!
I will for now consider this website an on-line country club. I cannot, in all honesty, consider this website a place where I can find serious, open-minded political discussion.
Newbies beware. As mentioned above, be ready for a thrashing, but remember, only you. Never the group.
Furthermore, it seems as if this site is more of an ecumenical religious site with a political focus at times. I am probably delusional in thinking that a group of intelligent people, looking for truth, would be doing so not just politically but religiously. Just as in politics, truth must come with agreement (that is to say, a house divided cannot stand), so it is with religion.
If America cannot unanimously find the one true God, and agree upon that, how will they find truth in politics? It's a futile quest.

And you two proved her point in the first two posts.Incorrect. I simply pointed out that she used a very board brushstroke to paint all the members here as troll hunters. I certrainly did not refer to her in any negative term(s). I took issue with her generalization.

I just got a new keyboard made by some outfit called Elecom. It's like a laptop keyboard lifted out and put in a keyboard case. Saves me a bunch of desktop space, and I like the key action.

"Furthermore, it seems as if this site is more of an ecumenical religious site with a political focus at times. I am probably delusional in thinking that a group of intelligent people, looking for truth, would be doing so not just politically but religiously."
If my experience is any indicator, the road back from depravity leads first through politics, and finally (kicking and biting, usually) to religion.
I spent several years as an increasingly conservative agnostic, until advancing conservatism made it impossible to sustain the contradiction.
