A message to “Freepers”:

I invite all who participate to listen up. This is a serious message to those of you who post here. I am a christian conservative and firmly adhere to conservative values. I am a grandmother to be and I want my grandchildren to live an America like I grew up in. I realize that this is impossible now and want to make a difference. I want to keep my family safe from terrorism and safe from the liberal ideology being forced upon us. In this presidential election, I know that George Bush is the only clear choice and am working hard to make that a reality. That said...

You sound like an appeaser. A committed Democrat is no friend of the U.S. and no friend of mine. These folks that claim to be social conservatives and are still trying to reason with liberals are deluded. The time for debate with the Left is over, they don't want debate, they want a shouting match. James Carville's tirade on Crossfire yesterday should be proof enough of my point. Having lost all patience with liberals, I no longer intend to be civil when they poke their vulgar heads up. They are the enemy of the U.S. Constitution and the Republic I hold dear.

What's your problem? I'm a grandma, too, and am about your age, I guess. So you think we're all a bunch of losers, right? I don't really care what you think. Jim Robinson is one of the brightest, most patriotic, conservative great thinkers in the U.S.A. If you think he's a loser, then you would do well to get the heck out of here. Only those that have been here for years and have proven their credibility through childish banter are allowed to participate and have meaningful input.

As a long time lurker and new poster, I have noticed this. I am being quite careful, because I'd like to make the team. I need a conservative 'home.'

That's really not true at all. You have to understand the nature of forums and online relationships, as well as people just being people. One cannot possibly catch up with others on years of posts and events. You learn this and that, some inside jokes, and you form new friendships. Over time names become more familiar and you'll feel more comfortable. Alot depends on what times you tend to be here, or how much time you spend, what topics interest you etc. I had to give up a ping list or two and pare down what threads I chose to read, simply because I don't have time.
But like any family or community, FR is made up of all sorts of people. I have found it to be one of the most interesting, friendly places I've ever "hung out", and my people-meeting/chat/etc internet experiences started on IRC nearly 10 years ago. One of the best things about FR is precisely that it's not some place full of cookie-cutter people. There is as broad a range of social and political opinions here as you'll find anywhere.
And BTW, welcome to FR! :^)

As a born-again Christian, recovering former liberal and a monthly donor, I guess I qualify . . .

Forum members here are under nearly constant vitriolic attack by those who do not share conservative viewpoints and values. Use the search function and type in the keyword "zot" to see for yourself just how constant and pervasive these attacks are.

There are members of this forum who no longer wish to suffer fools with the patience of Job anymore. The non-stop bombardment of lies and spin, like good intentions, are paving the superhighway to Hell. I cannot find fault with them for taking this position.

Few people will be found on this forum who are in lockstep agreement on every issue. Should you decide to render an opinion, either be prepared to defend it vehemently or willing to accept dissent with a measure of humility. Given your own self-description, this should not be altogether difficult. It helps if you understand this is not a mutual admiration society.

My own practice, is to state my peace, study what others say, yet avoid exhausting myself in firefights that achieve nothing but energy consumption.

There are plenty of people here, who do not conduct themselves by a code that requires of them, decency.

There are plenty of people here, who are first class.

There are scoundrels.

There are noble men and ladies.

There are people who love to fight.

There are people who love to hate.

There are people who are no good except in a fight, for which, it seems, they are at their best, be design.

There are disingenuous, misrepresentative, naives, who plainly like to cause pain.

There are warriors who love liberty and peace.

The forum has some flaws, including its habit of hiding some.

Yet, there is potential for you to find information and people who can bolster your spirits, in your cause to defend what you believe to be great about the United States of American and Americans and our American Heritage.

This is the contest for your liberty, the price of earning your freedom on a daily basis: partake.
