The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I have no inclination to draw attention to myself like that.

That's the beauty of it.... it's not forced.

You mentioned a virus at work today. Somebody on the Dose mentioned that her computer had been attacked by the Gaobot virus. Might be something to check tomorrow at work. Must be a new one, I've never heard of it.

1. Hot Toddy
2. Bed

Speaking of which, did I mention I just got a new mattress today!?

I was so excited about the HH knife, I forgot to mention the mattress. It's VEY nice. Prolly the nicest I've ever had in my life. My mom bought it for me (along with one for herself, of course). :-)

Just think, 2J, if you'd married the guy with all the bucks, you wouldn't have those two lovely boys, and you probably would NEVER have considered keeping chickens!!

Money sure could provide a means to get my butt back over to Washington! *grin*

Here's one happy person who could really enjoy the "better things" money could bring!

I used to come home late and not a minute too soon
Barkin' like a dog, howlin' at the moon

You'd be mad as an ol' wet hen
Up all night wonderin' where I'd been

I'd fall down and say come help me honey
You laughed out loud, I guess you thought it was funny

But I sobered up and I got to thinkin'
Girl you ain't much fun since I quit drinkin'

Now I'm paintin' the house and I'm mendin' the fence
I guess I've gone and lost all my good sense

Too much work is hard for your health
I could've died drinkin' now I'm killing myself

And I'm feedin' the dog, sackin' the trash
It's honey do this, honey do that

I sobered up and I got to thinkin'
Girl you ain't much fun since I quit drinkin'

Now I'm fixin' the sink and I'm mowin' the grass
And you've made me a list and I'm bustin' my.... well

All broke down, tail's been draggin'
It's a rough old life up here on the wagon

And I'm feedin' the dog, sackin' the trash
It's honey do this, honey do that

I sobered up and I got to thinkin'
Girl you ain't much fun since I quit drinkin'
Yeah I sobered up and I got to thinkin'
Girl you ain't much fun since I quit drinkin'

Yep, you're right.

My sister in law told me during their last visit that she remembered when she first met me and I mentioned that someday I wanted to have chickens! I didn't even remember saying that to her, it was so long ago (probably 15 years ago.)

Funny, I think.

I got a great life, though...don't I? Got a sweet family, small but comfy home, chickens, chucks, whistles. I had a teenager wave at me cheerily this evening and I cheerily waved back. Life is great.

I also gotta go to bed, I am beginning to feel awful.

Wife and I both did drama in college, but really thought that was gone until we found our current church.

It started for me with a sore throat. That's kind of receded a bit to be replaced by more general stuffiness and lethargy. I took some Sudafed which helped with the stuffiness a bit. Hope you feel better soon!

You can use your HH knife to cut off the "do not remove under penalty of law" tag...

I'd like to do a bit for my church too...I was pretty good. UIL Top 50 in the state of Texas when I was in high school. Had scholarships all over the place.

Last time I did anything was when I played "Betsy Ross" for my church...our Fourth celebration service. I had a monologue.
