Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
LOL!!
It all worked out for the best (eventually). I went back home and lived with my parents for a while, worked in my mom's shoe store. Mom found out I'd called my boyfriend (she didn't like him) and fired me.
That night she called me and told me to come close up the shoe store because it was getting dark (she can't drive after dark) and I told her to call this other girl and have her do it. (Mom had fired her a couple of months before.)
Dad kicked me outta the house that night.
Lived in an apartment over my uncle's department store for a year, then got accepted into nursing school. That's where I hit the girl with the box fan...she attacked me first!
That led me to a job in Austin where I ultimately realized the boyfriend didn't intend to have a relationship with me when he married someone else right after I moved there.
Then I met a guy who had 40 million dollars (I'm not kidding)and dated him until I met Steve. Steve drove a Laidlaw university bus for UT.
The rest, as they say....
I'm still grateful! :-P
40 million dollars!? Just think of all the chickens and whistles and Chuck Taylors and manicures that kind of money could buy!
*laughing*
Money, as they say....
Uh... [blink]
Yep.
Last I heard, he became a priest.
LOL! You've met me...can you believe I ever lead such a tumultuous life?
I really felt like I was going down rapids without a boat!
What? Cannot buy happiness? Well, sure... but what about a lease?
He was a real nice fellow...just nutty. He settled his stomach by bouncing up and down and waving his arms in the middle of a restaurant.
I guess then we should take comfort in hoping the money went towards good. :-)
Hmm, it would not have occured to me to try that.
Knowing him, I'm sure it did...he was a real decent fellow.
Steve was just so FUN and so FUNNY (he was also ALWAYS drunk).
It did occur to me to crawl under the table when he did it. I nearly died. He literally walked into the middle of the restaurant and began leaping up and down flailing his arms around.
It was awful.
I was thinking more along the lines "Money isn't everything" which 2J pointed out so beautifully by explaining how the fella settled his stomach. *laughing*
Money can buy bits of enjoyment here and there, as well as a kick-butt vacation or three....but in the end, you need God, true love and loyal friendships to gain happiness.
Or else you end up like TerAYzah.
After I saw that movie, one thing that struck me about that was, even though he thought he was giving up his dream, once he let go of it, Mary Jane came back to him, so he ended up getting what he wanted even though he thought he had given it up.
Good evening, all! I've been writing all day here--trying to get this article out by tonight/tomorrow if possible. Still feeling kind of sick. Just caught up on the thread.
You two should have gotten along real well then!
I'm sick too. Throat is scratchy, I'm all achy.
I'll take a cold-eeze and hit the sack here in a bit.
No...nonononono...since I saw what the people were like in the drama department, I have no inclination to draw attention to myself like that. I may play my whistle for a few friends or in a small church, but that is is.
Money may not buy happiness, but it sure makes the lives of happy people better.
And heck... even the unhappy people have to be better off unhappy ~with~ money than without it.
Fix yourself a Hot Toddy and get some rest, Fedora. Hope you get to feelin' better soon!
