The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Both of our oldest are ensconced back at school, too, as of Tuesday. The oldest is starting his second year of law school at Cornell, and the second is starting Grad School at UT Austin in Computer Science. I miss them already. It was great having them home during the summer.

I use stamps.com for printing postage for my shipping needs. They have a new product, photo stamps, that allows you to print US postage with your own color pictures on them. Here's a few samples:

Now the USPS is part of the federal government, despite their claim to be "private enterprise". They say you can use "any" picture on your stamps.

This could be your opportunity to send out mail with Hillary on a broom, or Bill behind bars, on 3 cent stamps. Or "W" stamps, a great idea if you're working for Dubya and are doing mailings.

I didn't look at prices, but you buy blank, high-security pages of stamps, and then print your pictures and bar codes on them. You have an online account with money in it, and each stamp value you print is deducted from it. It's a convenience, and maybe a way of getting something noticed. At least by the postal inspector, who carries a badge and a gun, something not issued to UPS or Fed-ex.

Nuttin. I don't know if he ever put in for a final inspection. He put gutters on the dumb thing... they drain right by that nightmarish footer. He's such a rocket scientist.

I used to think my mom would come over now and then we'd have coffee together. That never happened, but now I sit at the table and sip coffee with my 5 year old!

He's better company, too, right?

Oh, Lord, don't get me goin' on this moron. Bozo called me a couple months ago, collect, from jail, to rant on about his hunger strike and the restraining order against him showing up in Council chambers.

This guy is a wack-job non pareil. He's somewhere south of Lyndon LaRouche.

Way cool! SeekingtheTruth is gonna love this feature for his 0Cents.com site!

I have ordered just decorative stamps from him before, but it would be fabulous to use those as real stamps!

P.S. You've been PayPal'ed.

Uncle Sam Cereal

Serving size 1 cup
Total Carbs 38g
Dietary Fiber 10g
Sugars less than 1g

So it looks as though a cup of this is net 28g carbs. It is very good, and helps keep things moving. ;o)

Heh, I figured I was already covered by "Spam-Master Bear".

I don't think I've ever been featured in three keywords on a single thread, before...
