I seem to have adopted a stray kitten as an indoor cat. I've never had a cat in my life! (I do have a Jack Russell Terrier.) What do I do now?!
Thank you - I'm glad she found me too. I can already see that it's going to be a long, strange trip. ;-)
You're quite welcome! Thanks for the tips.
I'm still surprised that the JRT is taking it well, but it looks like an adorable dog!
It'll be one of the greatest pictures you'll ever take if you can find a little black bow tie in a doll shop. Apply to kitten, rinse and repeat.
And yes, the laptop would make your Kitty Dust-Removal Service difficult.
I love JRT's. They are all so cute. It's a shame they have a bad rep. Everyone that finds out I have one always says something like, boy your brave to have one of those, or has it killed your cat. Susie has just been a wonderful companion. Pretty much goes with me every where.

Very cute kitten. I don't know if anyone else has said anything about this, but Jack Russell terriers have a strong hunting instinct and have been known to harrass other small animals in the household. I recall reading an article about the breed, and it described one as chasing a cat up a chimney. I'm not trying to rain on the parade or suggest that your dog might do this, but I'd keep an eye on the two of them for a while, and maybe not leave them alone together until you've assessed how they might get along long term.
They're always under my chair while I'm on the computer.

See post #106. Janey goes with me to work.
I've heard it, thanks, and I'm keeping an eye on them. When I try to separate them, though, they both whine until I get them together again.
They're cuties. I love the hairy eyeball the cat is giving the dog.
That kitten is so young, it's got me wondering what happened with her. That's almost too young to be separated from her mother. Usually they aren't adopted out until 8 weeks or so. I hope she adjusts well. There's nothing like a kitten for lots of fun and laughs!
Slings, What a neat kitty! Thanks for the
pictures. Zia has real potential as a
FR Viking Zot Kitty. Being Zotted by Zia
on FR as a Troll would be a terrible
experience for the Troll. (Tip: Don't put
any kind of flea spray on her while she is
little unless the vet can give you a mild
one. My husband sprayed our little kitten
with that stuff and evidently it's little
pores got stopped up with it. It almost
stopped breathing within an hour, and I
had to quickly dunk it in a bath just to
get it breathing again. It greeted me at the
door when I got home from work and was
frantic and struggling for breath.)
I'm fitting her for a little horned helmet tomorrow. Thanks for your kind words.
I understand re the flea spray - the reason I bathed her is because she's too small for anti-flea meds. As soon as she meets the minimum weight requirement...flea ZOT!
I have GOT to get me one of these! (Jack Russell that is.)
Grats on finding a good cat, and a life long buddie for you and your JRT. You will just love the heck out of watching them play together...JFK
I surely am. I really ought to get some pics. (And a second litterbox.)
This is way off topic for the list, but I feel it requires some serious attention. Our own prince of politeness and eternal, steady cheer, Slings and Arrows, has acquired ... a cat. A kitten to be specific.
Great thread, if you can sort out the serious advice from the notorious, manic FReeper comedy which vanity threads like this attract like flies to honey.
Slings, congratulations. May the "kids" do well together.
