My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

I'm doing fine thanks and you?? Lovely day today. A tad over cast, but warm and breezy, late August in NY.

(Where there's smoke, you'll find my wife cooking dinner.)
To: bentfeather
Indeed I fell into a snare
I did not see it laying there
There was it seemed more going on
There I was looking on
I dwelled upon my path at length
Finally I showed no strength
Oh that carefully placed lure
Not again soon I am sure
Inside of me is pensive way
From outside it seems astray
There are those who will not perceive
I am not one to deceive
The truth I always do revere
Yet silence is what serves me here
Words which say nought
Yet still they ought
I consider gravity
And also naiveté

(John Kerry is finally not going to do a 180, especially when it comes to releasing his form 180!)
To: Radix
In silence of night
when lonely hearts
look for ease
and humanness holds
us all in the palm
of her hand
a cup of kindness
we require
not a sagging quagmire
filled with lures and sparling things
we seek honesty
and hope the best
but sometimes we are left
beating our breast
filled with sorrow, hurt and grief
and loneliness beyond belief.
Beat not thy head upon the rock
take the pen in hand and let it not mock
the truth you vowed, the hope you held
for a future bright, now to be alone in the night
'tis the truth and so sad, that this is a day
when you should be glad.
Silence has it's own rewards.

Bluebird

She came to me one sunny day
Landing on my cracked windowsill
Her brightly colored azure coat
Feathers primped neat and unsoiled
She whispers only words I understand
Conveying love, happiness and joy
Gifts offered unconditional
As silent treasures from above
She comes to this mortal man
Tremendously flawed and incomplete
Perhaps her visit must be a mistake
For who am I to garnish such attention?
Then she jumps upon my outstretched hand
With crystal clear intentions to share her soul
Pray That I never forget
The day that bluebird came to stay

I'm a day late in responding. Sometimes one liners get lost in all the posts from the Foxhole and I miss the Lair. :-(
I never forget you though or the lovely folks that come to the feather's Lair. :-)

Happy 1st. Celebration Dragon Flies' Lair! Well done Poets!
It is with heart felt gratitude and appreciation to all who have supported this endeavor of an original poetry thread. While we do not claim to be the first such thread at FR, we do maintain with pride, poets writing and posting their own work.
We do have the beginning of an Anthology.

Congratulations Bentfeather! Thank you for running the Lair, a place for poets to share their work and each others company.
Thanks to all the others who have contributed to the Lair.
Thanks for the special mention Feather, but others have contributed their original work here and all I've done is hopefully provide some inspiration for them with my music and "subject for the day" poem.
It's gonna be fun to go back and re-read some of the poems in the anthology.
