She had such a great attitude. She was finishing her Master's at the time she found out about the triplets (she actually finished it after they were born! She's an Iron Woman.)

Anyway, we were at Kindergarten Parents Night and were both congratulating each other on how swell (and swollen) we both were looking. She related a tale about the day she found out there were three babies. She was driving to school that night and was sitting at a red light and just started laughing. I looked non-plused and told her, "Good grief! I'd STILL be crying!"

I think the laundry idea is a good thing. You'd never notice another three or four loads. ; )

I'll have to start doing some research, starting with the Homeowners' Association rules :-). My great-aunt used to "take in laundry" - she had a diesel washer!

LOL I worked with a guy whose mother was a "washerwoman." He said it was years before he figured out his mom wasn't washing all his dad's shirts three days a week.

Two girls and a boy here. Now (thankfully) all adults.

My son was much more difficult as a child. For a time I was on a first name basis with the triage nurses at the local ER.

The girls as teenagers were more difficult, I think. But then, I think like a female, and really had no idea what my son was thinking.

Reading the posts, I am SO glad I have no little ones at home. Too well I remember the days of wanting to sell them all to passing gypsies. :)

Where can I find one at? I love the snugli, we use it to take the dog outside to run around, but because of how it is situated, I can't do anything else with it on! I am nervous about nursing in public when the time comes, so anything that will make that easier is welcome!

Yup, she's an Evie. Her full name is Evangalia, she is named after my mother.

Thanks!

It is so hard to put her down! We have tummy time every day for a bit, where we play on her play mat. She likes the mirror, is very alert and looks around, but my favorite time with her is either when she is nursing or when she is asleep on my chest after nursing. I can't wait to watch her grow into a 6-month old!

We should all post pics of our kids to share, I love kid pics!

How old is your sone with Asbergers? My nephew is 6 and diagnosed PDD Autism, high functioning. He is a lot to handle, but a really sweet boy. He also favors younger children.

I know what you mean. My youngest was the same way. He was jumping on the couch one night and gashed his scalp open on the coffee table. They super-glued it closed.

A week or two later he dropped a glass in the bathroom sink and sliced up his hand. No stitches. Just more grey hairs for me.

My middle son took a flying leap out of his high chair around the time he had learned to walk and cut his eyebrow open.

After having three boys, not much phases me anymore.

Look for "Over-the-Shoulder Baby Holder" or "Maya Wrap" on Google. I'm pretty sure Over the Shoulder is sold in stores like Babies R Us, and I know Maya Wrap has a web site. If you're in contact with La Leche League, they probably have them to sell or have a list of sources. I've never been very successful at nursing with the sling (maybe because of my robust figure :-), but it's wonderful for carrying them around, especially when you have several walking, too!

Don't miss the chance to hold your baby! I wish I'd been more appreciative when I had my first one (or two)! I've got pictures on my profile page, but the one of James is pretty old. I bought him a couple of 12-month outfits at the secondhand store yesterday ... one is too small, so I'll give it to someone at church on Sunday!

And do you have clothes from Motherwear? Even a couple of shirts, or the excellent nursing undershirt, will make it much more comfortable for you to nurse in public. They last really well; the shirt I'm wearing today is on its 4th baby, and just starting to get a little worn on the seams.

I could never wear nursing bras. They always looked like those cone-t*t bras my mother wore in the early 60's.

I always had my diaper bag with receiving blankets with me and would whip one of those over my shoulder and baby's head.

I appalled one of my nurses when Joey was an infant by nursing him in the hospital when there were (gasp!) other people in the NICU. She was trying to hustle around to find a three-fold screen. I told her, "Relax. It's my third kid."

I have always had so much milk I could feed an orphange and was quite upset that I couldn't donate the surplus to the hospital. I was home with the breast pump while Joey was in the Nicu for 10 days and had more bottles in my freezer than a dairy.

I have to wear double-thick nursing pads, so I look even more lumpy than when I'm not nursing :-).

They did to me with the screen in the baby nursery at the hospital after Pat (#6) was born ... I couldn't believe it - a bunch of maternity nurses and medical aides haven't seen a lady in her nightgown nursing a baby?

I did too. A few times, when I was actually away from the baby and at the Mall, I'd hear a baby cry and wish I'd brought a spare blouse.

Buy her the Lamaze toys. They are all red white and black. These are the colors infants see best. I had a "key-ring" for my youngest that with the pictures of shapes and animals had a panel where you could put a picture of your family.

She is darling.

Thanks! I actually got quite a few of the Lamaze toys for my shower! I don't have any that you can put photos in though, I'll keep an eye out for it!

We live in an affluent area (not affluent ourselves, but some of the neighborhoods out here are!) and I love garage sales here! We bought her crib and changing table (all oak, really nice) for $150! I am amazed at what people sell at garage sales.

Jeff is now 12, and for the most part, you would never guess there is anything wrong with him.

I got him into therapy, speech, physical and occupational, at 2 yrs old. We thought he was autistic, he would never look at me, and all he could say was "nuga nuga nuga"... He started special ed pre school on his 3rd birthday, and went to regular kindergarden on time. I firmly belive it was with the early intervention is what makes him "normal" now. I know another boy with PDD/NOS and him mom cant "face" putting him in classes, and therapy. At 9 years old, he acts about 2 and it will only get worse. I used love and a lot of disipline, which some moms cant handle, and thats why he is doing so well. His pediatrician cant belive how far he has come along.

There were lots of times where I would put a pillow under his head when he was banging it on the floor, have to hold him tight with both arms till he calmed down, leave stores because he couldnt handle the stimuli, have to put him in his room to run the vaccum because he couldnt handle the noise. He had 5 surgeries by the time he was 5 years old...

His major problem at this time is just getting along with other kids. PDD is a developental delay, and Jeff is at about 8 years old when it comes to dealing with other kids. He has a hard time with kids his own age, but no trouble with adults. He plays golf with my husband, and he likes to play with the "big boys" at the club.

I love all my children, but Jeff is a special gift to me, and I am blessed to have him

Tax Chick has it covered, you can find slings online by those names.

I also agree that Motherwear has wonderful clothes for nursing. A great investment if you plan to have more children or to nurse for a while. I could never just walk around with the baby nursing in the sling, but it was wonderful when I sat down to nurse in public. They nursed at the mall, in church, everywhere with Motherwear and the sling covering them. I sometimes got dirty looks, but oh, well!!! I actually asked one rude lady if she'd prefer that my hungry baby screamed and screamed instead of quietly nursing!

Of course, my favorite nursing position was lying down. So relaxing for both mom and baby!

Dr. Sears was my "attachment parenting" guru when the kids were babies.

Good luck with Evie. I miss having a baby around, but my puppy will have to do for now! GG
