Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Yeah, I rebooted twice, but it worked the second time when I disconnected and reconnected the mouse.

Oh, no! The Escaflowne manga is an abomination! Get her Rurouni Kenshin. Or Fruits Basket. NOW you tell me! ;^)
No sub-titles? So, er, it was in Japanese with no translation at all?
Um, yep it was in Japanese with no sub-titles at all.
I have a friend in the comic business who was in the Joe Kubert School of Comic Art at the time and he had a direct source for his anime and also films from Hong Kong which were pretty cool and the HK films were sub-titled.

Heh...yeah but our guys would come down here and it would take them an hour to figure it out...

Cool. I have friends who were getting fansubs in the early ninties... but we're all too young to remember the truly dark days before that.
It's so easy now! All you have to do is know the right place to download stuff, and you've got almost dvd-quality shows with great subtitling, available less than a week after they air..

Well, yeah, I could tell you how it's done... you need a high-speed internet connection and it's a file-sharing system, which obviously leaves a few holes in your security, but I can show you how it's done... or how I get it, anyway...

My condolences on your loss. I am glad her passing went easy and I hope that is a comfort to your family.

Nothing involving paperwork ever takes as little time as it should...
I'm still annoyed with my bank because of the time they switched my home address to my Dad's somehow...but made me fill out complex forms and SIGN them to get it switched back.
Of course, that isn't as bad as what happened to my boss and another co-worker. They both chipped in on a trailer to use for snowmobiles, and therefore registered it in both names. However, someone at the DMV checked the box on their form that said "civil union partners" and all their official mail started going to the same address. Not only that, but the department said it would cost 'em to have one name removed or in any case to set it straight (no pun intended).
*snicker*
In the end they just took one name off when re-registering, but it's still a topic of jokes occasionally.

I'll have to keep an eye out for DVDs of that. I haven't seen "Inuyasha" yet, either.
My first exposure to anime was "Speed Racer"--which is actually the first show I ever watched, so I just realized I've been watching anime longer than I've been watching US cartoons!
I was up late trying to finish Disc 3 of SP last night and got up to the last episode, which I'm watching now. It's the one about the heretic hunter who looks like Racquel-nee's dad. They just introduced yet another person claiming to be the Scrapped Princess--hmmm. . .
One thing I don't get is how come during the intermission halfway through each episode they play accordion polka music :)

Thanks for letting me know her name. I'll put a notice in the Parish Bulletin to pray for the Repose of her soul.
