The Hobbit Hole XIII - Let them pass! Let them pass!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yep, lots to do... more on the other end. I'm making lists of things I have to do once I get there. Sigh. Being responsible is complicated.

I'm here! Good morning! I have a pretty busy day but will check in when I can. Homeschool party and organizational meeting tonight...we're getting a new president. Our president of 3 years is quitting to have a baby! (This is my church homeschool group, not my regional one.)

Hey, did you ever hear of a series called "Lum--Urusei Yatsura"? I'm reading some stuff on it now and am wondering if it was an influence on "Ranma".

Urusei Yatsura was my first real exposure to Anime back in the mid-80's. I loved that series and am going to start picking up DVD's of it pretty soon.

I'm sure Jen already answered, but here's my answer anyway. ;^)

The same person who created UY also created Ranma 1/2 and from what I understand she also did Inuyasha(sp?).

Do you get to elect a president, or does someone just volunteer?

Did you see that the first of my cherry tomatoes are finally ripening? I'm excited! Kinda silly...but these are the first vegetables I've grown since I was really little!

And I'll start picking zucchini next week. Looks like I'm gonna have a LOT. Hope I still like 'em at the end of the summer... ;-)

Thanks. She was quite a lady. Her life was full of adventure and accomplishment- so much so that your average 'feminist' would develop an inadequacy complex. I might share some stories someday if you're interested.

Suze, her name was Gladys.

You liked it? I've never met anyone who's seen it... guess it's a little old. I liked "Ranma", but "Inu-yasha" and her other series, "Maison Ikkou", bore me.

Watched any more FMA?

In this case, I think somone volunteered and we all have to basically "approve" it which of course we will. But it's a surprise who volunteered...so that should be fun.

Good news about the fresh produce! There's nothing like it. We're supposed to "watch" how much we eat of all things, but we abandon this when we have fresh produce. Steve and I eat tomatoes, hot peppers and blueberries to our heart's content, while they are in season.

You'd think, with all the trouble I've been having with my stomach lately, I'd steer away from your hotwings for a while. You'd think.

Sigh...

I'm an addict...

Mornin'. I'm here but catching up for being out yesterday.

And I'm having mouse "issues" with the laptop. Using the touch pad until I figger it out.

I don't wanna call the ~ help desk ~.

I'd rather go to ~ town ~.

(nothing personal Rosie, I wouldn't mind if you were our Help Desk person...)

Mmmmm...blueberries...

I haven't seen 'em at the farmer's market yet, but they're now cheap at the grocery! I love 'em.

I'm still surprised at how much more I taste foods now that I'm not eating as much sugar. Why that should make such a difference, I dunno. But everything tastes better than it did. Or tastes stronger, in any case.

I had a little piece of cake at the anniversary party we played at this weekend, and I found myself thinking "I wish this wasn't so sweet - I can't taste the chocolate over the sugar!"

Helpdesk folks don't usually beat people up.

Though sometimes we'd LIKE to beat up certain users...

You liked it?

UY? Yeah I liked it a lot.......and I didn't even have the luxury of sub-titles. All I had was a synopsis of the episodes.

I've never met anyone who's seen it... guess it's a little old.

HEY!

I liked "Ranma", but "Inu-yasha" and her other series, "Maison Ikkou", bore me.

I haven't seen Ranma or those others, but Ranma has intrigued me and I may try to get my hands on some of it.

Watched any more FMA?

I watched another episode last night. Mom died and Eric wants to be a National Alchemist.

I picked up my first bit of Manga the other day. It was the second issue of Escaflowne. I should have previewed it a bit more than I did because I let my daughter read it first and then I saw that Van has a pretty foul mouth in the Manga version and there was a bit where he walked in on Hitomi taking a bath and there was some nudity. I apologized to my daughter for not being more careful.

I guess I should pay attention when they go to the trouble of putting an age on the back of the book.

They don't beat me up, but they look at me like I'm stoopid. However, outside of our system, they're pretty clueless.

Disconnecting the mouse and rebooting seems to have worked.

Oh, no! The Escaflowne manga is an abomination! Get her Rurouni Kenshin. Or Fruits Basket.

No sub-titles? So, er, it was in Japanese with no translation at all?
