The Hobbit Hole XIII - Let them pass! Let them pass!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yeah, AZ is normally 0 humidity. When it clouds up and rains here -- even in the summer -- it cools right down. It's from being so far north, if the clouds come in that's all the cooling you need.

It did rain for a few minutes in Tacoma this morning -- summer burst. Last a couple of minutes. Sunny and mid-80's now. By the end of next week, we're supposed to get into some real heat. Just in time for my vacation. Hope my swamp cooler shows up by next weekend!

Afternoon all. Takin' a break from Jr's room and gonna grab some lunch (as soon as Nanner gets outta the kitchen)...I stopped by late last night, but y'all was talkin' South Park. Ain't never watched it. Ain't never intendin' to. Just not interested.

Got the walls done, door planed and am gettin' ready to rehang the door, then do the trim. But, oh, this mornin' I discovered the toilet in the master bath is leaking...again...yes...that one. Fortunately, I noticed it this time and it's leaking on the floor, not in the walls like before.

Called a neighbor who's done some plumbing work for us. Hopefully he can get to it right away. If not well call a profe$$ional tomorrow.

And afore y'all go sayin' "but that's easy, you could fix that"...I have fixed one before...once. I know my limitations and know that it's far easier to go ahead and call rather than spend 2-3 days of me tryin' to fix it and then having to call (dammit Jim, I'm an electrician not a plumber...)

Catching up...

RE 1963, g'nad, most unfortunate typo there bro, but I enjoyed the pic and the follow up report.

RE 1965 No PE, I ain't dead yet. But I ain't replaced thuh switch yet either. It's lookin' like I'm gonna hafta stay home tomorrow to get things finished.

RE 2007 Hair, let's try to keep this a family thread...

Oh, and our Performing Arts Department at church did "Annie Jr." this weekend. Mostly kids with a couple of adults fillin' in. We saw it last night. Now I got that memorable music fillin' my head...

Oh well, the earworm will come out tomorrow...

I'm feeling kind of sick today, so I'm resting, too. Hopefully I'll be ready for Monday when it hits.

Naps are a good thing to do, Sunday afternoon. I think I might take one later.

Sigh... wish you'd been chatting last night, I needed someone to talk to but the South Park frightened me off too.

When's Jr back? Or do you just plan to leave him in South America?

You had already left last night when I checked in. Jr. gets back Tuesday morning. We won't have all of this stuff back where he wants it and stuff on the walls, but I want to be finished with the painting/fixing stuff.

I'll check back in later.

Good Afternoon All - arrived home a bit ago, having dropped off the visiting CA Bowyers at the airport. Had a ginger beer and caught up on the most recent pings. Great Pics G'nad, many thanks for posting them.

Many saw the beacon, and the rode to muster of bowmen, from across the eastern seas, the northern lands and all points of the compass. Camps were quickly made and the festivities began.

Many show a remarkable amount of hobbitness, enjoying large meals, often, and each with 'ripe meat off the the bone and malt beer' with dwarfish tendencies. Corin, you would be welcome by one and all.

Staves were traded, flint knappers demonstrated their craft, bows were made and target shooting was throughout the day. Several had instruments and impromptu jammin' was heard far into the night. All activities were carefully arranged not interfere with any meal times.

The Wand shoot was held in the lower field. Shooting at pole, 4 inches in dia. 6ft tall - 160 yds away. Close does count in that game, though it took many rounds to get a winner.

Someone there said - You know, it's a like a family reunion except you like like everybody. Probably 300 were there, about 20-25 of us have made all six. Been truly fortunate to be one of those.

Seeing g'nad, mrsnad, thegirl,
theboy and thenewboy is always a treat. A remarkable family with wonderful children, the 'nads are to be commended on their diligence, love and faith in raising such fine young people.

Theboy's bow was a pleasure to craft. Hmm, now when will thenewboy be ready for his? :-)

I was able to get a few more pics but techology baffles me, so will send a disc thing to the G'nads for them to preview and post at their pleasure.

Got some new ideas, traded some bows, obtained some new wood and looking forward to MoJAM 2005 already. Will also need to catch up on some sleep.

He can always put his own stuff back... hopefully he'd be motivated to do it.

Sigh, I have to get series about packing this week. I've done all the books, but that's about it, I should be able to box about half my clothing. And maybe the printer and the hats. But not today.

Yeah, g'nads typo was right there. But I thought you dwarfs did that pis thing a lot anyway

Hey, leaking toilets are a definitely a call for a pro. Each home job comes with a certain number of cuss words in the budget for fixin'. Toilet jobs have cuss word budgets way up in the hundreds -- even for the easy stuff like replacing the innards in the tank. Save your cuss words, call a pro.

Heh, I have to pack my collection of containers and stuff. Got to buy a bed, or something, this week. Only we don't have anywhere to keep one...
