Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

An excellent spam! If only I had gotten up a few minutes earlier, I could have given you a run for it.

I do wish that pic at 1996 had come thru. Excellent Kerry/Edwards spoof poster.

Yawn!
Not much happenin' 'round here. Bein' lazy.
Oh, yeah, since we're getting such hot weather, decided to make my next "impulse" buy a neat little swamp cooler for the bedroom.
Can't get 'em around here, so I got one from an Internet place in Austin. Free shipping offered, no tax, so they must need to do some business (Why I pinged Bear, wanted him to know I was contributing to the economy down there). They're pretty fancy these days -- have some kind of ionic air purifier on them too. I just want something to cool it down -- it's been dern hot around here at night (upper 50's). (I said that because Ruthy and WN are going to be laughing their rear-ends off at "upper 50's").
The day it shows up, it'll probably start raining with highs in the "upper 50's".

I bet it does get hot where you are upstairs especially... since you've got no trees!
This trailer would be an oven without our trees. But it was still pretty hot for us last night...

Ack.
Big'ol has advised me of an error in my review of I, Robot. There *was* a bit of nudity- Will Smith Shower Scene. Largely forgettable, but there, nonetheless.

That's a nifty little unit. If you haven't had experience with swamp coolers- be warned: They're of no use if the humidity gets much above 30%.

Yeah, between seeing the movie yesterday afternoon and mentioning it this morning, I'd forgotten that detail too.
I've spent enough time in gym and barracks shower facilities that a male half-moon is just something else to ignore.

Our humidity in the summer when it is hot is generally pretty low -- we're the arid west, at least when there isn't cloud cover. We tend to be humid only when it's cool. So much of the time we'd use this, it'd be pretty dry.
To: Lil'freeper
Oh, yeah, I'd forgotten that too. Will Smith just ain't that memorable.
Back from church. Now it's thundering. Next week is my last time there...

IMO, the best way to enjoy THHGTTG the first time is in its original form, the radio play series. Adams put it into book form due to popular demand.Huh. I had never realized the radio play came first! Ya learn something every day...
Now I don't feel so bad about having only heard the play...

Hello! Thundering here, too, but it's not super close at the moment. I'm kinda hoping it pours, both because the garden would like it and because it might cool things down. It's 80 with rather high humidity. I don't do this kinda weather! Especially not at night. It musta been in the seventies last night, or in any case it never cooled down much. Ugh.
The gig went pretty well, IMO! We weren't very loud, though. We really need to get a little portable PA system or some such like if we're going to continue playing out much.

I'm glad to hear the gig went well! Was it just the three of you?
It's pouring here. I feel sick again, so I'm in bed resting. I still have a couple episodes of FMA to watch, yay! Yours should arrive tomorrow, probably...

So much of the time we'd use this, it'd be pretty dry. Oh good. I only mention it because I just got back from AZ- and they're in the monsoon right now. My mother's neighbor has a large house that is cooled only by evap and it was miserable in there. Humidity was only 30% but when it's 108-110 it's just no fun at all.
