Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Those espresso snobs best not tell me any such thing, considering that those stovetop thingies are the ~real deal~.
Not like the high-priced, froo-froo espresso machines they sell!!
Honestly, I prefer the taste of espresso made from my old-fashioned perculator than I do of the machines. Maybe it's just cuz I grew up on it a certain way. *shrugs*

Internet flame-wars just don't have the same heat, do they? Suppose a lot of martyrs over the years would have liked to just get banned for a few days...

I'm just amazed at the taste...it's like the drip pot leaves something out. I'm using beans ground really fine...that's the way you're supposed to, right? That's what it said on the box, anyway.
In any case...it's very worth the [very slight] additional hassle, as compared to the drip maker.
It IS more caffeinated, though, apparently. Really get the shakes if I drink any before I eat...

Suppose a lot of martyrs over the years would have liked to just get banned for a few days... Yeah, being told to go away for three days is a lot different than being burned at the stake.
To: Corin Stormhands
I'm gonna just buy new ones. well... that's one approach...

well... that's one approach... You got a better idea? These are painted red and the heads of the pins are broken off. I'm changing the rest of the hardware in the room, so it's not a big deal.
Glad to hear about thuh tractor.

We just burn extra copies of
The Institutes...
***fears he's started something that shouldn't be on the thread...hopes Jen agrees...***
To: Corin Stormhands
You'd probably only need about two copies to get a good fire going. And it's nice and dry to boot.

Careful, they'll take back your secret decoder ring...
How are you feeling this morning? You're at home, right?
To: Corin Stormhands
Nah, I'm at work. It's sort of an almost-day-off; the boss took off and implied strongly that he doesn't care how much we get done.
I'm much better today. My throat's barely sore at all, but I am quite tired. But one full day at home in bed is enough.

The prayer of a righteous hobbit availeth much...
Thanks for your prayers for Jr's friend Joe (with Marfan Syndrome). He got a VEY good report and doesn't have to come back for another five years.
Dr. said most people with Marfan Syndrome have a better than 50% chance of having surgery. He said Joe has a less than 50% chance of having symptoms.
It's a definite answer to prayer.
