Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Woohoo! Congratulations :) Where were they?
Our #1 son graduated from UMass Amherst. The tuition at the time he attended was $11,000-12,000. The private schools at which he was accepted at the same time were $30,000 and $32,000!!. I've been checking lately for Clare, and that seems to have gone up in some instances to $35,000! She's looking at Ave Maria University, a new Catholic college in Naples FL, and the last time I checked it looked as though the total of tuition, room and board was only about $15,000! That's just about what UMass Amherst is charging nowadays!
I'll be happy to keep you up to date on our experience with the forms. It looks simple enough, though we're doing some funky stuff like a big bay in the back, and on the Southeast side, a curved wall in the basement on top of which a curved wall of windows will sit to scoop up a bunch of light and warmth in the winter!
What's it about?
4400 people who have mysteriously disappeared over the course of the second half of the 20th century suddenly reappear... and are very strange.
Don't get me wrong, I like watching it in Japanese, too, I just have to do it when I have more time. It takes a lot more concentration. Hard to explain--you'd have to see the way my viewing area is set up. For one thing, if I use dubbing I can sit back on my bed and watch, which I prefer; whereas if I read the subtitles I have to sit at the computer, which is less comfortable; or else I have to go in the other room with the big TV, which is comfortable but then I can't work on anything in my room at the same time, which I like to be able to do when I'm watching stuff.
The opening for SP is cool, though I'm still trying to figure out the lyrics. Is the FMA one online?
Hm...that's different! Kind of a science fiction thing, or is it horror of some sort?
Sounds wonderful. I simply demand pics! :)
Definately sci-fi. Has lots of soap-opera potential, tho.
Heh, my answer was probably pretty disappointing. :p But for what it's worth, I agree with what you said. I think most of the mainline comics are pretty much like soap operas, read 3-6 issues and you'll have a pretty good handle on what's happening. Some are more difficult to get into than others, though, it's true.
That may be why I'm not reading many comics nowadays, and the ones I am reading are fairly non-traditional... I'm tired of reading the latest writer's take on a 40-50-60 year old character.
"Our #1 son graduated from UMass Amherst. The tuition at the time he attended was $11,000-12,000."
Whew, that was my private school's tuition!--state school was only like $2000 at that time. Maybe it's more expensive on the East Coast?
OK, this is pretty good...
I took one of those flatbreads (they're almost gone...durn it!), spread it with olive oil, sprinkled with cinnamon and Splenda, tore into bite-sized pieces, and then baked at 350 for about ten minutes. They're nice and crisp. I'm having half for dessert and saving the other half for a snack tomorrow.
Oh yeah. You have no idea yeah. The prep school I taught at in MD was half again as expensive as my college tuition at Northern Ariz.

Interesting. There are certain characters I like enough that I could read them over and over--Spidey and Batman being the top two--in which case I prefer for the writer to stick to the traditional formula, or to do something creative building on the traditional formula. In that instance a writer will lose me if their take on the character departs radically from the character's history, like for instance happened with Spidey during the recent clone saga, IMO. Now that's for characters I'm used to. I guess new series with new characters would be a different category. I prefer for writers with radically new concepts to invent their own characters rather than apply their ideas to traditional ones, if that makes sense.
Wow, my private university was "only" 15,000 a year. Funny thing was, it was much cheaper to go part time - the part-time credit cost was less than half. And I got work to pay for it. So I only went one year at that cost.
Hope Clare's school ends up being more Catholic than the one I went to, though I didn't really mind, not being Catholic myself.
In the bottom of the box, of course. :)
Yikes!
Oh, yeah, that site I linked seems to be a pretty decent resource for finding anime mp3s, which I enjoy very much - I have over two hours' worth on my machine. Dunno if you're interested in such things, Rosie, but it's worth a look.
Thanks; I'll check that out in a sec.
