The Hobbit Hole XIII - Let them pass! Let them pass!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I wanna hear. So I'll be waiting. :-)

'Course we all know that we get to take turns with the good stuff. And let one another live vicariously. Nice sharing process we've got. But, Ya'll just have one of the EXPLICITLY nicer things this time!!! :-)

Good for you. :-)

LOL.... I still will remain envious - but I'll be drivin' to see the grandkids so it won't be as bad as it could be. :-)

"Hehehe...only when yer carrying them up 20 steps and they were packed in the big boxes instead of the small ones."

That's how I do it--that's why nobody likes helping me move :) Took half a dozen trailer loads to move my books last time. . .

So how much do you save on home schooling compared to paying for private school? BTW do you get tax refunds on school taxes if you homeschool?

LOL! When I was typing that about moving books, for some reason an image popped into my head of Sam saying, "Share the load. . .share the load. . ." ROFL!

I don't know...never looked it up! I know that Matthew was accepted when he was three into the Tulsa School for Gifted Children at the University of Tulsa...I remember the tuition was laughable. "But we have scholarships!" they said! Phooey on 'em...they were liberals.

BTW do you get tax refunds on school taxes if you homeschool?

No. We pay taxes for public school just like everyone else (including those without children). I don't mind. I do mind when some pinheaded cheerleader knocks on my door in her $300 miniskirt beggin' for more money. Yeah, that bugs me a bit.

Oh 2J.... That's for trips and things. I sold stuff for band trips so we could march in out of town parades and such! And car washes....

Best bang for the buck is a car wash, as I recall. Better then the stupid candles we had to sell one year.

Gah! I hate the days when I'm totally moody, and today is one of 'em AND we're supposed to practice for the gig on Saturday, which we have not had ONE practice for or picked a setlist, and now I find all but two siblings have backed out, and we aren't the ones that have usually played as a trio, so I'm mightily cranky right now. On the bright side, with only three of us the pay will be a bit better, but if we're a failure...we won't get asked back. *sigh* Can't win.

Also feeling depressed about something stooopid, which is that today when we were on break, one of the guys in the training started talking to another woman about how she looks great and has lost so much weight, and how did she do that? Now...I know she has lost some, but she right away said it hadn't been that much, and she was surprised he noticed. Meanwhile I was just in front of them and afraid to join in the conversation much since apparently he hasn't noticed I've lost quite a bit...I guess I didn't really want recognition, but then again, maybe I wouldn't mind. I'm not THIN yet, but by gosh I'm thinner! Wish just ONE person would notice.

But I'm up some from my lowest weight, probably from cheating on birthdays and vacation and 'cause I haven't been exercising AS often...so I'm feeling like a blimp. Funny how some days you feel SO slender even when you know you have a ways to go...other days, not so.

Well, I know it...but I feel with what they take from us in taxes, the school district oughta be able to pay for it without sending the kids out to beg for more.

It's poor budgeting...

I feel the same way about the popcorn sales with Cub Scouts too, though...and I do it. I just hate it, but I do it because of the pressure they put on Matthew. You know I hate doing it.

"I remember the tuition was laughable. "But we have scholarships!" they said! Phooey on 'em...they were liberals."

LOL! Reminds me of the scholarship the first college I applied to offered me. It only covered about half my expenses, and the recruiter was puzzled why I held out for a better offer.

"No. We pay taxes for public school just like everyone else (including those without children). I don't mind. I do mind when some pinheaded cheerleader knocks on my door in her $300 miniskirt beggin' for more money. Yeah, that bugs me a bit."

ROFL! I wonder how she would've reacted if you'd offered to help her raise the funds by buying the miniskirt from her for $300 :)

The good thing is, my clothes will be dry by the time one load is finished washing! It's so hot it feels like when you open up an oven, you know? That blast of hot air?

I gotta go...Steve'll be home soon and we're going to a "Party for the President".

I dunno... I think it's good for kids to learn to sell and work for extra trips and such. If it was in the budget as a line item, it'd cost more, to be sure.
