So how much do you save on home schooling compared to paying for private school?

I don't know...never looked it up! I know that Matthew was accepted when he was three into the Tulsa School for Gifted Children at the University of Tulsa...I remember the tuition was laughable. "But we have scholarships!" they said! Phooey on 'em...they were liberals.

BTW do you get tax refunds on school taxes if you homeschool?

No. We pay taxes for public school just like everyone else (including those without children). I don't mind. I do mind when some pinheaded cheerleader knocks on my door in her $300 miniskirt beggin' for more money. Yeah, that bugs me a bit.

Oh 2J.... That's for trips and things. I sold stuff for band trips so we could march in out of town parades and such! And car washes....

Best bang for the buck is a car wash, as I recall. Better then the stupid candles we had to sell one year.

LOL! Reminds me of the scholarship the first college I applied to offered me. It only covered about half my expenses, and the recruiter was puzzled why I held out for a better offer.

ROFL! I wonder how she would've reacted if you'd offered to help her raise the funds by buying the miniskirt from her for $300 :)

LOL! I heard that!!

I don't know about the private Christian schools in the Midwest, but Catholic elementary schools here in MA start at $3000 a year and go up from there! High schools start at about $6000 a year.

Thanks so much for your prayers. As I'd told Ramius early this morning, Mama's death was unexpected but not unwelcome. She's at peace now, and not tormented by her inability to remember things and engage people as she once did. She was a firecracker in her day, and we missed that about her when the Alzheimer's caused her to withdraw.

We had already begun mourning her over the last few years, so that part won't be too bad. I predict a lot more laughter than tears when the family gets together. We'll all be rejoicing that she's home with the Lord, and back with my Daddy who she loved and never really got over losing almost 23 years ago.

I do appreciate all the support y'all have given me. It means so much.

As soon as I talk to my sisters, I'll make the flight reservations. I don't know yet if I'll come home Sunday or Monday, but I'll be here sometime after the weekend!
