Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Thanks Alkhin. I am praying for a complete recovery of course!
This is excellent news!
In the olden days, (when I first started in nursing) when a person had a stroke, there was really nothing that could be done...now there are medications that can be administered, the sooner the better, that can really diminish the effects of stroke!
Sounds like your friend is getting excellent care!
Hey all, regarding the other troop support packages, I have not gotten them out this week. I have enough to send a nice "usual" package to the remaining 3 soldiers in my group that I normally send to.
I have packed these boxes and just need to get the customs labels filled out, get 'em all taped up and send 'em off.
There are chips, peanuts, snack cakes, cookies, honey, Ramen noodles, magazines, snips, newpapers, candy and I can't think what else. But I'll get 'em in the mail ASAP. Just haven't been able to get it done this week.
I will be out of town and out of internet range so I won't be able to notify you when these are mailed. They are in my truck and ready to travel with me to get mailed though.
Sounds good! Did I ever send you Ashley's address?
I have prepared myself to see whatever condition he is in. Grama had a really bad stroke in 1987. They told me she'd be dead before the end of the day. It happened during another surgical procedure so she was in the hospital already. Still they said she'd be gone before the end of the day. I was with her immediately when they brought her out of surgery to recover and saw the worst throughout that day and the next.
She couldn't talk and was completely paralyzed. I also watched her completely recover over the next months and do *all* the things they said she'd never do again. She went back to work as a beautician in about 8 months. No problem!
I know this can be overcome. And the first hours are crucial. I wish I could have been there for the first hours for Benny but so often we just can't. I am *very* relieved at his progress in 24 hours.
This happened to him just as he was leaving the funeral of another friend. I guess it was just too much for him. Fortunately he was with Clifford and Clifford got him to the hospital immediately.
Thanks for keeping us posted on the great work! :)
Yes, I have Ashley's. I have a choice package for her I think. I haven't had time to write a note to go in it but I want to!
I will see you in the next few days I think.
The grandkids are waiting for me at my mom's. I am hoping they'll let me take Abby and Emily off for visits and stuff. And maybe to keep at Grama's house for a couple of days. If I get to do that I'm gonna take 'em out to Meridian Lake for a day.
I'm hoping!!!
Tom is there. That should help!
Yep. But did you see the post a couple of days ago about Myranda's Grandma in Kansas City?
Well, ya know, Derry's mom had bad heart problems even before I married him. Since we divorced they've thought they lost her to heart attacks a few times.
Well, this surgeon scheduled some new kind of open heart surgery on her for yesterday. It is already clear that she's not gonna make it much longer. They said it was about 50-50 that she'd live through the surgery. So, Myranda and Derry went up there. Tuesday, before the surgery was supposed to be yesterday the surgeon cancelled the surgery and didn't tell 'em why.
So, Myranda and Derry are still in Kansas City trying to see what's going to happen. He's supposed to stop her off at my mom's to visit with everyone on their way back to his house.
What time does Dicorte Bros. close? I gotta try to get there before they close tonight. Can you check? Might say in the yellow pages.
Yep! It actually wasn't too bad, as we ended up with a good leader in every group I was with during the day. What's REALLY bad is when you end up in a group where no one takes charge and you just spend your time trying to come to SOME point.
But they didn't provide any water or beverages other than coffee. I should NEVER drink that much coffee. Baaaaad thing to do.
I am not sure about visiting with Grandma. But, she did finally get to meet her sister Michelle.
