This is excellent news!

In the olden days, (when I first started in nursing) when a person had a stroke, there was really nothing that could be done...now there are medications that can be administered, the sooner the better, that can really diminish the effects of stroke!

Sounds like your friend is getting excellent care!

I have prepared myself to see whatever condition he is in. Grama had a really bad stroke in 1987. They told me she'd be dead before the end of the day. It happened during another surgical procedure so she was in the hospital already. Still they said she'd be gone before the end of the day. I was with her immediately when they brought her out of surgery to recover and saw the worst throughout that day and the next.

She couldn't talk and was completely paralyzed. I also watched her completely recover over the next months and do *all* the things they said she'd never do again. She went back to work as a beautician in about 8 months. No problem!

I know this can be overcome. And the first hours are crucial. I wish I could have been there for the first hours for Benny but so often we just can't. I am *very* relieved at his progress in 24 hours.

This happened to him just as he was leaving the funeral of another friend. I guess it was just too much for him. Fortunately he was with Clifford and Clifford got him to the hospital immediately.
