Doctor, mother, and son:
I can only wonder: Who was the father?
Which child? BOTH children are innocent. Sadly one may be in physical jeopardy to carry the other. A 9 year old little girl, unless she is very large for her age, isn't likely to be able to physically carry this child to term. I would also wonder whether or not her hormonal balances and such would be enough to even promote healthy growth in the unborn. Emotionally, this child is traumatized. Would you ask that she be even more so by enduring pregnancy and childbirth? I am anti abortion. I mean rabidly so. But, I would not ask that this child be forced to carry another. God forgive me if I am wrong.
"It was the repeated ice cream truck melody that possessed him..."
Was the tune "Turkey in the Straw?" That's the one favored in my part of the woods for treat vendors.
I agree
We have "The Entertainer" here.
It's a touch ironic as well: I happen to love sackcloth, and occasionally ash on myself while watching "Leave it to Beeber".

Well when we make a reply it is considered fair game. Your question concerning whether the post belonged on FR or not opened you up to comment.
What I would recommend is that when you want only one person to answer, specify it up front.
My opinion is that half the things posted on a given day are questionable. But news is news. When I don't see a reason for a story I go look for a better story.
I got to go hunt or gather some lunch.

PS, Laura Earl can be pretty mean and she packs a 9 mm too.
That was my question as well when I read the article. Heartbreaking.
I'd be right behind you.....with a bigger stick!
Abortion: Yes.
Death Penalty for Mr. Softy: Yes.
I think you've summed up the argument pretty well. I am also rabidly anti-abortion unless the life of the mother is in jeopardy. I guess I would have to say in this case that they should watch her very, very carefully. If she shows signs, as I well expect she might, that she is going to be in danger, then the unborn baby may have to be born before it is due. This is the toughest of all cases. Two children here you're trying to protect.
That's quite an assumption without really knowing the child at all. Of course the rape will haunt her. But so will the reality of the child -- whether born or aborted. You just cannot wish the baby away.
I suspected that, that's why I asked you to call her off.
BTW, it's PROTAGORAS
Scheeech
Some googling shows that she was raped and abused so much, there was no telling who the dad was... there was some suggestion that the reason she matured was because she was abused so much so young that the simulation caused her body to mature early. Disgusting, isn't it?
Valid questions. See my #91.
But I would leave aside the "emotional" issue as a consideration for abortion; that is the excuse for virtually all abortions.
I have unlimited compassion for this little girl. I just don't think we'll really help her by turning her from a victim into a victimizer. Punish the perpetrator. The baby isn't a perpetrator. The baby is the second victim.

I delivered a 10 year old when I was a 4th year medical student. She wasn't particularly large.
With no ill effects to baby or mother? HOW?
My thoughts exactly. This guy will go to prison, and I hope he has a BIG roommate by the name of Bubba.
OMG-that's horrible!
Of course. And in this case, given her age, that is an unfortunate possibility.
