NYT RUSHES OUT REVIEW REDO (Kinder Review Of clinton Book)
June 25, 2004 -- The New York Times, which last Sunday published a scathing front-page review of Bill Clinton's "My Life," has alerted subscribers that another, much kinder and gentler review is coming July 4 in The New York Times Book Review. Entitled "Confessions of a Policy Wonk" and written by the novelist Larry McMurtry, the prominently placed review calls the book "the richest American presidential autobiography," and says that the former president is a better writer than Reagan, Ford, Nixon or Lyndon Johnson.
Unlike Michiko Kakutani, the author of the June 20 review, who called Clinton's book "eye-crossingly dull," McMurtry evokes authors from Dreiser to Fitzgerald to Balzac if not in comparison to Clinton, at least in reference to him.
Bush Camp Hits Democrats' 'Coalition of Wild-Eyed' Reuters ^ | 06/24/04
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush's re-election campaign lumped together vocal outbursts by Democrats Al Gore, Howard Dean and others on Thursday and called them part of John Kerry's "Coalition of the Wild-Eyed."
The Bush-Cheney campaign released a video on its Web Site that played up some of the more strident statements Democrats have made on the campaign trail and declared: "This is not a time for pessimism and rage."
The implication the Bush campaign appeared to be trying to leave was that some of the main boosters of Kerry's presidential campaign are filled with rage and perhaps a bit kooky.
"Today, our campaign is releasing a web video to 6 million of our supporters to show them what we're up against and what we're up against is John Kerry's 'coalition of the wild-eyed,"' said Bush campaign manager Ken Melhman.
Cheney Tells Sen. Leahy F*** Off NewsMax.com ^ | 6/24/04 | AP
Vice President Cheney cursed at Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy during a confrontation on the Senate floor while members were having their annual group picture taken earlier this week, Leahy and Senate sources said Thursday.
Senate aides with knowledge of the encounter Tuesday said the vice president confronted Leahy about some of the Democrat's criticism about alleged improprieties in Iraq military contracts awarded to Halliburton Co. Cheney, who as vice president is president of the Senate, is a former CEO of Halliburton.
Leahy responded by criticizing the White House for standing by allies who had accused Democrats of being anti-Catholic last year in opposing one of President Bush's judicial nominees, said one Senate aide, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Cheney then responded, "F-- off" or "F-- you," the aide said.
That account was backed by another aide, also speaking on condition of anonymity.
Leahy, D-Vt., confirmed that the confrontation took place but would not provide details.
"I think he was just having a bad day," Leahy said. "I was kind of shocked to hear that kind of language on the floor."
Cheney's office also wouldn't go into detail, but confirmed the two men traded remarks.
"That doesn't sound like language that the vice president would use, but there was a frank exchange of views," said Kevin Kellems, a spokesman for Cheney.
Have you bought the little one his first bicycle yet?

Anybody home?
Yes, they do don't they?
The summer concerts have started.
Every summer the West Point Band plays outside at Trophy Point.
It's nice to picnic and wait for the band to start and layout under the stars and listen.
There is a different genre each weekend...jazz, swing, marching, etc.
I'm here. Briefly.
I've just finished updating my virus protection and need to shut down, briefly to be sure I've got it installed properly.
All of my work emails are locked in the system at work. They are disabling their system for the weekend due to this massive virus that's floating around. I had a message a few minutes ago that my java is disabled. I'm not sure what that means, but I assume it is good because they also told of shutting down the system for the weekend due to the virus.
If they'd already been hit, I imagine I wouldn't have received a message at all.
Shutting down now to install the definitions upgrade. Back in a bit.

Bit - noticed this the other day. So many people have had so many ills that I forgot about your "little pain, right here".
Did it go away? Did you use massage or acupuncture?
Back for a few minutes.
Enjoy Neets....
I saw the RR rose, I may get one next ordering. I love roses, though I am NO gardener. If they have a nancy rose, I don't think I'll get it, it might lean leftwards, and I like mine straight up.
Tsk, tsk Dog, you were talking out of your orfice? I thought all of us did. Did that person know what it meant?
Guenie, the bite has changed a little bit, my Dr hasn't called, so I'll call on Monday and see what he says. The bright red is gone. As for my scrubbing the middle away, I'm awful about stuff like that. When I get bites, especially fire ant bites, I use straight clorax on it, it works for other bites too, but this one I missed.
Some of the cartoons about x42 and kerry are too funny, and some of the remarks on tv too, according to Roomey. Roomey told me Larry King was on Imus and Imus asked if he would ask x42 some real questions and not just puff ones. Larry said he would, has anyone heard the schmoozing "interview"? Roomey was going to listen, but fell asleep because the first question was so intriguing and the beginning of the answer was in a droning voice. I didn't hear either.
Well, gotta go, our guests will be arriving soon and I need to dress.
Till tomorrow, bye all.
As I am!!!!!!!!!!
What's cooking up your way?
T-storms are headed in.
Thank you for mentioning that the Ronald Reagan Rose. Sarah, last year, started a nice rose garden by the barn. She has about 20 different varieties. I'm sure she will want this when I tell her.
We had burgers on the new grill Sarah bought for hubby. Nice grill!!
