~The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XIII~
June 13, 2004 | bentfeather and Poets of The Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

There is this from Ogden Nash: "The cow is one of the bovine milk; One end is moo, the other, milk."
Odd one for Oden Nash, but he was both odd and funny.

Studying for the license and taking the exam
with 8 tries and finally I am a
"HAM"
A amateur radio operator!
My goodness...
A dream that came true for an eight year old boy!
and now....
Morse code travels a long ways away to meet
new people and shake hands across the distance!
I have been sick and sleepless and have chatted with a
late night Cuban HAM
from Havana!
I have chased DX until I have finally made the contact in
some far, far away place!
SO many places.... I do not remember
them all!
The Congo, Germany, Thailand, Peru, Montana
and Iceland, and South Africa and Australia
and Japan and Vermont
and I have even made friends with the
Ham in the next town!
For me Ham Radio has been an extension of
my love and care for all mankind!
It's my of saying
"Thanks"
for sharing this planet with me!
God Bless!
and

Oh WOW what a poem today, love it. Perfect graphic.

I grew up with radio and have never lost my love for it.

There was great drama shows to empower ones imagination. Saturday mornings were a special treat for me. One show was called "Let's Pretend" , what a special time for a little kid in the sticks.

Thanks for Breakfast, tunes and poetry.

It's going to rain today again. Yesterday was fabulous. Alas, one day out of the week no rain.

When I was growing up I had a friend whose dad was into HAM Radio. It was fun to watch and hear him operate.

Morning.

Had a bit stuck in my head about the road writhing and squirming behind us in the rearview mirror and we pay more attention to it as it sneaks up behind us and that we lose sight ofwhat is close to us to keep an eye on the winding road behiind us lest it catch up to us..

But the exact wording flew from my head..
Started out with "The past is a winding road that writhes and squirms behind us in the rearview like a snake.."
And the rest is gone...

Hi Darksheare,

Well, you do have something to work with here. I like the concept. Sometimes this is all we get-coming in like attic rain. It can be a beginning or an end. :-)

The Eagle

He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ring’d with the azure world, he stands.

The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.

Dressing the House

She stands a little seedy
her porches sagging
her paint is peeling
like a fan dancer
gracefully disrobing
to basic bare...

She gets a new coat next year,
but this year her head dressing
new with fancy gutter work wrapping
around her edges is disorienting
the squirrels - interrupting the
old route of planned destruction
forcing engineered plans
of new routes to bird feeders.

This morning they spied on me
through my bathroom window
their beady little eyes
aflame with anger
a result of detours on
their route to mayhem

However, next year
the pigeons are in for
an unplanned contest regarding
squatters rights and hastily thrown
together brooding hatches...
the roofers closed all the loop holes
