~The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XIII~
June 13, 2004 | bentfeather and Poets of The Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

The Bell

Which calls the sons of Time.

Thy voice upon the deep
The home-bound sea-boy hails,
It charms his cares to sleep,
It cheers him as he sails.

To house of God and heavenly joys
Thy summons called our sires,
And good men thought thy sacred voice
Disarmed the thunder's fires.

And soon thy music, sad death-bell,
Shall lift its notes once more,
And mix my requiem with the wind
That sweeps my native shore.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Good morning Sam, nice poem today. I'll have to listen to the tunes later, strong thunder going on now so I will shut down for a bit. Let you know when I come back on.

Hi all,

This is the 5th time I have had to get offline due to thunder and lightning storms. Maybe I will hang it up for the night. The Weather Channel is running a red bar and a flash flood warning for the Southwestern part of my county.

Okay, maybe on later.

Here's the weird part: NONE of the band members from The Cure appear to have aged.
It's as if they were put in stasis pr dumped through a time portal to now straight from their last tour.

Now that IS weird. Reckon "The Cure" is more than just a name? LOL!

Howdy ms. feather.

I'm a bit chicken about posting that pic. Ya gotta remember, our posts ALL show up in "Latest Posts" which means EVERYone would see it. Folks who know me a bit would get a giggle but others might fall outta their chairs! Ya gotta admit, it's a bit "different". hehehehe!

Nope, we're still drowning down here. Thunderstorms have rumbled through on a regular basis for weeks now and the ground's completely saturated. Been hotter 'n Hades, too. It's hard on the farmers because anything that isn't laid over by the storms is being eaten up by Japanese Beetles.....can't keep the bug spray on the plants. The rain keeps washing it off. grrrrrrrr!

I did finally manage to get on the new tractor and learn to drive it a bit. Scared the heck out of me at first but it wasn't as bad as I'd expected. Of course, now it's to wet to do anything with it. LOL!

Hi SAM. Nope, not been hiding. :-)
I just don't get a lot of computer time this time of year. It doesn't help that what time I do get is usually spent doing car club stuff. Cuts into FR time drastically. Just finished up some letters to be sent out, as a matter of fact.
I've learned more about the club the past four months as secretary than I ever learned the past two years as just a member. But I love the added responsibilities.

Are ya ready to swap weather yet? We could use some of yours and feather's dry stuff for a while. *glub*

We have a few brown spots in the fields right now but they aren't due to "dry". They're due to standing water that's drowned the soybeans. We could use a week, minimum, with no rain but it's not in the forecast. Rain and t-storms straight through the next 7 days.

This dampness isn't good on the ol' bones either. hehe! Time to turn on the heating pad and try to get a good night's sleep. I've forgotten what that feels like.

Good night and I'll catch ya next time.
*HUGZ*

We had an overcast day but not a drop of rain out of it. The only good thing is that the grass isn't growing and doesn't need cutting.
