Word For The Day, Monday June 07, 2004 -- A Tribute to Ronald Reagan
6/7/04 | The Verbivores

Posted on 06/07/2004 4:40:33 AM PDT by NeoCaveman

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

As we all know the 40th President of the United States slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God Saturday June 5th. So feel free to post your pics, stories, etc. about the Gipper.

Today's word is one of many that could be chosen in his honor.

.

intrepid \ (n-trpd) \ adjective
intrepidity or intrepidness \ nouns
intrepidly \ adverb.

Deinition: Resolutely courageous; fearless.

Etymology [Latin intrepidus : in-, not; trepidus, alarmed.]

My example: President Reagan in all of his intrepidness said "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" A few short years later the Berlin Wall was torn down. This memorable line would have never been uttered if President Reagan had listened to his advisors. His uncommon courage caused great things to happen. This courage was a natural extension of his faith in the American people and the Almighty. And to me that is the Reagan legacy.

i didn't realize that was an insult, i didn't intend it as one! was/is david niven a fruit or something? i don't know much about him.

i didn't run away or even get to the lancome counter yet, i had to go to the grocery store since we were foodless, having been gone this past weekend. xsteen and i do need to head to the mall since she is getting together with a friend tomorrow and her bday just passed. this is someone she exchanges bday gifts with and wanted to get her something from Brighton.

I'm not sure if he was a fruit, but always struck me as one. I checked his profile, and he had two wives with kids from both. He just isn't one of my faves...TOOOO wimpy. I put him in the same class as Leslie what's-his-name that played Ashley Wilkes in GWTW. CG is much more manly and handsome! ;)

By the way, the Lancome flip-flops are plastic and have that funky plastic smell (must be dims). Gonna stick with my Academy tredz. Other than that, it is a decent freebie. The tote is cute, and there is a sample of the bronzer, eye cream, eye shadow, juicy tube, and the ever present mascara.

I don't know what the big deal is, Niven was classy, cultured, couth, conservative, a great pal of William F. Buckley, Jr.'s, etc. Too bad about the awful mustache, but CG doesn't resemble him there.

1. The only thing I have in common with David Niven is the name David, which is probably not his name. I'd guess his real name is Leslie.

2. He was a wuss.

Sounds like you are having a loverly time!!!!!!!

Dinner sounds TERIFF!!!!!!

Well we went by storage, but first we stopped at a friend's becuase she needed hubby to see if he could straighten out her puter problem.......he figured it out alright, her modem is fried. Her husband thinks my husband is the best thing since sliced bread because he knows nothing about and has no interest in computers.

Anyway back to storage.......I retreived my shoes, where I am going to put them all I have no idea, but I think this is a good time to get rid of a lot of them........they've been in storage for well over a year........I obviously do not need 40 pairs of shoes

We then went next door and had pizza for dinner....double cheese, pepperoni and mushroom pizza, 2 sodas and a beer. $15 including a tip......as much as I love making pizza, I can't make a pizza at home for that amount. Most especially when you include the fact someone else had to cook it and clean up afterwards.

The striped bag is "ok" cute. I've banished the stinky flipflops to the guest bedroom until garbage day!!!!!!! I allowed CG to whiff, and he said they smelled like disgusting plastic fruit!

Did you get a makeup bag or a tote? I've been getting makeup bags lately, and this one is a tote, complete with shoulder straps.
