In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
As we all know the 40th President of the United States slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God Saturday June 5th. So feel free to post your pics, stories, etc. about the Gipper.
Today's word is one of many that could be chosen in his honor.
.
intrepid \ (n-trpd) \ adjective
intrepidity or intrepidness \ nouns
intrepidly \ adverb.
Deinition: Resolutely courageous; fearless.
Etymology [Latin intrepidus : in-, not; trepidus, alarmed.]
My example: President Reagan in all of his intrepidness said "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" A few short years later the Berlin Wall was torn down. This memorable line would have never been uttered if President Reagan had listened to his advisors. His uncommon courage caused great things to happen. This courage was a natural extension of his faith in the American people and the Almighty. And to me that is the Reagan legacy.
Ooooooo...I didn't think about that!
Wait a blankety-blank-blank minute...you forgot to bring a camera to MY wedding!!
gabz is correct, none of yunz are entitled to pix of my niece's graduation, but the entire class was COUNTING ON ROBT to provide pix of your wedding, hence the situations are not remotely analogous.
Yunz need to check your emails later this afternoon.
That's OK. He already knew what David Niven looked like.
OK, OK, I'm leaving...
GIT!!!!!
he DOES look like david niven, doesn't he, now that you mention it!!!
Oh, jeez, xs, now you're in for it just like I am all the time!! By the way, did you see post # 259? :^)
I look like David Niven like you look like Hillary Clinton or Helen Thomas.
Oh my, talk about yer fightin' words!
And that is a fact!
XS started it. I don't fight fair.
; )
I see ya'll were fighting while there was no teacher in the room-I'm glad I was at work, so I won't get written up by our sub when he sees this mess.
Our rain has arrived a day early-80 and thunderstorms-we were needing a little rain. No grilling tonight, obviously-I'm making salad with baby spring greens, romaine and watercress, tomatoes, onion, cucumbers, ripe olives, baby corn and snowpeas and anything else I can find to throw in, tossing some vegetable rotini on top and shrimp on top of that, then croutons, bacon bits and ranch dressing for hubby, fat free no-carb bleu cheese for me. And I've already cooked the pasta and shrimp so all I have to do is throw the thing together, open a bottle of chardonnay and light the candles.
For some reason my spooks are really acting up-I've noticed that they do whenever there are bad thunderstorms-wonder if it has something to do with how the little girl died? The door slamming downstairs and the running footsteps in the hall are even beginning to bother Husky girl, and I'm getting tired of going downstairs to pick up the decorative rugs that keep getting shoved off the railing of the loft. I have already shouted "quiet down there" twice...
We ain't fightin. XS ran away.
Not now, but something was starting over that David Niven/Hillary Clinton/Helen Thomas thing...
Dang, your dinners always sound yummy!!!!!
I gave her a heads up about a Lancome special.
One of these days, I'm gonna kick Argh's fat Canadian butt!
Promises, promises...
