In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
As we all know the 40th President of the United States slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God Saturday June 5th. So feel free to post your pics, stories, etc. about the Gipper.
Today's word is one of many that could be chosen in his honor.
.
intrepid \ (n-trpd) \ adjective
intrepidity or intrepidness \ nouns
intrepidly \ adverb.
Deinition: Resolutely courageous; fearless.
Etymology [Latin intrepidus : in-, not; trepidus, alarmed.]
My example: President Reagan in all of his intrepidness said "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" A few short years later the Berlin Wall was torn down. This memorable line would have never been uttered if President Reagan had listened to his advisors. His uncommon courage caused great things to happen. This courage was a natural extension of his faith in the American people and the Almighty. And to me that is the Reagan legacy.
Tiger, you thought OJ was not guilty? I will not say "innocent."
He did not do, what they said he did.
No right thinking person could be asked to sentence a man to life, or the death penalty based on that Prosecution.
i am just thankful that the bubbaloon was not in power to preside over the Gipper's funeral.
/Shudderthethought
OMG - I hadn't even thought of that.............
OTOH I just heard something on FNC that because it doesn't happen (state funerals) all that often there is a 186 page document of all the proper protocols and sequence of events of how everything must be conducted.....so maybe the bubbaloon wouldn't have been able to do anything to f'it up. though her heinousness would try everything in her power to do so.
does anyone know why Nixon didn't have a state funeral? i realize that he was buried out there in CA, but i think the family has to request one, that it isn't as a matter of course?
Funny that it's John F'ing Kerry who keeps inserting his feet in his mouth and falling over his own words....
Sort of a case of being constitutionally intripod.
Reagan, on the other hand, displayed a consistent sense of and honesty.
Muttly missed you!
He was worried all day. He even left some precious kibble in his Snoopy bowl, just in case he needed the energy later..ie: to bust you out of jail...
The Venerable Muttly in all of his intrepedly intrepid intrepidness and intrepidity said "Mr. Cableguy, tear down this fence!" A few short years later the Muttly Compound was expanded. This memorable line would have never been uttered if the Most Exalted and Venerable Muttly had listened to his advisors.
I'm not sure..........
BTW - do we have any pictures of David slaying Goliath??????
have not uploaded from the camera but will try to do it later today. the teacher took a good one. his friends took stupid ones that aren't worth squat! i had my camera there for xsniece's party and had misplaced it in the van and so didn't take a single pic! my xs that i made her for graduation was on display at the party room and my cookies that i made for the party were a huge hit. the party was at the party room at the Panera bread, which i don't know if you have ever been, but the food was great. sandwiches and salads. my kids made absolute PIGS of themselves. i was humiliated. before the guests even arrived they were chowing down, i told xshub to give them some $ and let them go buy something as they were eating the food right out from under the guests. not xsteen, mind you, but those other two. it was if they had not seen food before in their lives!
Mornin', everybody ! Happy Monday !![]()
hey muttly, my dog looks just like Rex who was President Reagan's dog!
You've got FReepmail.
We have a Panera here, but I haven't checked it out yet.
That would be a good thing.
A nice tribute, and reminder.
I, however, look like Patton. (especially around the chrome helmet and pistols)
Well if you would feed them of occassion.............j/k
I'm hoping to be able to get better pix tomorrow of my little "princess" than I was able to on Easter........she is wearing the same dress for kindergarten graduation tomorrow night.
We have to have her there at 6:30.....but the "celebration" doesn't start until 7:00.........oh fun.
oh you will love it! i had only had coffee there and had gotten bagels for the kids, had never had the sandwiches or salads. There was a very yummy green salad that had fruit and pecans in it!
The intrepid stands taken by Reagan contrast sharply with the Clinton years. We went from having the best President to the worst and now back to the one of the best. The contrast is astonishing. God has truly blessed America.
they still wouldn't let him stay with us at the Hampton Inn, despite his resemblance to a presidential dog : (
