It wasn't only WMD threads he would be contrary to all evidence on. There were many subjects he really went off the deep end on. I can't recall his take in Situation Room discussions, but I remember him there, I suspect for ill reason. It seems I remember his tin foil in JFK jr crash, Wellstone, Flight800, immigration, and on and on ... threads, too. Doesn't seem to ring a bell to me that he actually did anything but detract from clarity on any of them.
It is too bad, because, as another poster mentioned, he seemed to be reasonably intelligent, but then again, I know quite a few very intelligent professors around here who have no idea of how to really think. Ah... I won't mention any names, though a few just flew around my head... lol.

There are several posters on this forum who use a variation of John Galt's technique. They hijack threads, move the bar in arguments, change positions when called on something, etc. etc. I think they are all in the pay of the DNC; either that, or they are mentally ill. Or both.
Hot button topics attract them...immigration, religion, etc.
I try to post as you do...pointing out the facts for lurkers.
It is my opinion that the news articles about Bush losing his base come from reporters who lurk on this forum and are not discerning. I further think these people have stories like that as their goal, along with depressing turnout and demoralizing the military.

You're quite right about the situation, though, and I strongly believe that we must not ignore such posters. In general, they don't really need to be banned, because there is often need to hear what they say, but those newbies who are always lurking must be notified they don't represent mainstream conservative thought.
Glad someone thought to ping you to this thread. I hope others are pinged when they are thought of, too.

Unfortuneately on the thread where I was dueling with Galt...I'm still dealing with someone (nickname billbears) who is either a disciple of Galt or Galt under another name.

The last one just appeared today on the thread that Galt was all over yesterday.
I got called a militarist after he got word that I had been in Artillery.
He also stated repeatedly that there were 'others' who were 'laughing at you' when he lost arguments.
I always wondered if these were his other poster names, or voices in his head.
Another thing of his was to insult constantly, and when called on it he'd backup all wide-eyed with index finger on his mouth and say "But I didn't say that! You're twisting my words!" or he'd say, "It's hyperbole, wit, and charm".

Ah yes, Billbears, who tried telling me that Saddam wasn't using Ricin for nefarious means, and that there aren't any WMD's in Iraq at all nor were there ever.
He sounds like the Galtedone, and does some of the same behaviors.
I'm scrapping with him in the same thread as well.
Read posts 640 and 641 in that thread, and then tell me if it sounds like he's implying that the Constitution doesn't allow for a standing army.
Because that's exactly what he is saying there.
