~The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XII~
May 14, 2004 | bentfeather and poets of The Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

I just now finished watching a Si-Fi movie title Power, written by Victor Salva, I wonder have you seen this flick? I loved it.

TJ was always willing to listen to advice about the relationships between nations.

Too bad he didn't follow my suggestions on economics.

But then, you know how stubborn redheads can be...

Oh gee Bob, it's really great. It's about a paled skinned, bald, troubled teen. He had lived with aging grandparents who could not cope with his strange power. He was sent to a boys school. Of course, he suffered all sorts of torment there.

It seems his mental capabilities were all developed and he held super natural power. The story line referred to Albert Einstein's theory of a fully developed brain, and the power that goes with it. Other factors too.

Oh, the movie is called Powder.
*ugh*
Saw that movie, sorry about not recognising it before.
Didn't like how they ended the movie though.

My sis' quote, "What? You don't like the ending? I thought you'd like it! He gets hit by lightning and disappears!"

Too, simple. But if they had explored the power the movie would never end.

This is true.
They hinted at things, and then dropped the ball somewhat.
*sigh*

Ah, Powder. That one I did see.

Very moving part about the deer. I do not endorse extreme vegetarianism, however. Consider where that would leave eskimos, and other aboriginal cultures, most of which showed extreme respect, and reverence, for the animals they HAD to consume.

And consider that our own Judeo-Christian roots have, at their beginning, the references and necessity of animal husbandry, and sacrifice.

Useless slaughter is shameful, but there is such a thing as useful slaughter. And it is unfortunately necessary.

As to the "powers" that the young man employed, they were interesting, but seemed much more trouble than they were worth.

If I were to choose a "superpower" it would be the ability to be elsewhere when trouble came looking for me. Teleportation? That's one name for it. Anticipation and prevention is another way to make it happen.

Point well taken.

Just Like Me

If all the world were just like me, I’d get along just fine.
Of course that means all would have habits just like mine.
And those maniacs behind me would want to drive too fast,
When I just got out around that idiot I passed.

And everyone would be there when I went to get my stuff,
And no one would be happy to believe he had enough.
I guess it’s just as well that everyone is not like me.
Hey, wait a minute, come to think, that could the problem be...

If everyone were just like me
I would not holler yippee!
Cause I would look around and see
everyone being snippy. :-(
