My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Good nite poets
May the sweet aroma of Lily of the Valley fill your dreams caress your face tenderly lull you to sleep in the safety of knowing love...
~ Dream a Little ~ Love a Lot ~
I remember the color your hair was... the color of spiced rum With memories of you walking without me in gentle oriental rain Left me with dreams of being lost in your embrace. The peace in your eyes shone through I was lost, lost in your eyes ..........lost in your embrace... Dreams of you at Indian Twilight...

Last night while I was watching the Funeral service for President Reagan I was reminded of something from my past. When I was a child My great Grandfather, a Spanish American Wan Vet, used to wake me with the sunrise to fly our American Flag, and he would find me at Dusk to walk to our flag pole and lower the flag and fold the flag, perfectly, and place it in honor on our mantle until the next morning.
One day when I was being lazy, I told him I didn't want to go take the flag down. I told him I was too busy... he told me if I was too busy for my flag, then I was too busy for the men who had died for it.
I was all of 6 or 7... this was pretty huge for me. My Great Grandfather was an immigrant from Denmark and had a hard life. He loved America-
Last night I watched our Military members , so proud and loyal, so steadfast and respectful, fold our Flag that adorn President Reagan's casket, and I remembered my humble Grandfather. I know President Reagan would have been proud of my Grandfather, because he knew what freedom really meant.
I want to share this primitive poem, which I wrote, with you all, in Memory of my relatives who protected freedom and in memory of all of the men and women who serve with so much pride. I n Memory of Mr. Reagan.. who was a humble, yet great man who loved his Old Flag too.
I will not forget them.
My great Grandfather died two days before his 102 Birthday. And he died with an American Flag in his heart and upon his casket. He taught me to never forget about that flag.... and I never have.
Old Flag
The Flag With a Mother's eye I look to see
The world as it is all around me.
My heart is heavy for what it could be;
For my children's future, without this county.
My Flag hangs high and waves so proud
I look around at the others, who don't say a sound.
What is it that they refuse to see?
Why don't they understand the meaning of the word liberty?
To me it is as bright as a sunny day,
a fresh breeze that flutters and floats my way.
I will teach my children to love that Old Flag
and to know that People before us have given their all.
So we could be free, so we can stand tall.
I will not ever forget,
as I breath the fresh air
and look to the sun,
and, too, I see those blank stares,
I will cherish the day that is soon to come...
When I can say "thank you and welcome home"
This to people who let me believe in that Old Flag
That floats on a breeze and glows in the sun..
Who give me the strength to show my babies born;
that freedom is not free,
and it is not done by one..
This to the soldiers who teach me,every day;
with truth and with pride
the meaning the word dignity

Good Morning DBR.
Thanks for sharing the story of your Grandfather and you thoughts. I can see why you're proud of him.
Nice poem but it needs a picture, I hope you don't mind.

Stars
lazy days
lonely nights
looking for a lonely star
who'd keep me company
looking at the widespread sky
being me a lonely soul
gazing at the moon so bright
making wishes `pon a star
a blow of breeze
to animate
the freezing scene
so the strings of white gold ribbons
seem to tease the lonely moon
because it is standing still
and they are free to move
"twinkle twinkle little star . . . "
I used to sing when I was young
now I've grown but still today
" . . . how I wonder what you are"
lying down upon the meadows
dream of flying up so high
reach the stars, sit on the moon
dancing ballet with the clouds
Midnight

Oh wow Sam, fabulous graphic and poem. Thank You so much for the special care you use in choosing poems and tunes for The Lair.
Coffee and donuts are great, too. Listening to the tunes now. Good choices. :)

Thank you Matthew. I hope you are correct and we are rising again. Fighting evil isn't an easy thing as you well know, and we have a lot of fighting ahead of us.

Thank You, Matthew, for the wonderful photos. These moments were very so moving last night. I sobbed as Nancy said her last goodbyes to Ronnie.
