~The Dragon Flies' Lair Thread XI~
April 17, 2004 | bentfeather, and poets of the Dragon Flies' Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guides
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Hi Jacqui, I always smile, just to see your name, even when you are not sending a message to me. I still like the thought of your being out there in our Tomorrowland.

Lead the way, Jacqui! Brighter days are coming!

Darkness?

If darkness gathers round you,
Get out your brightest light,
And take a close look at the thing,
That’s giving you a fright.

You’ll notice that it shrinks away,
The closer that you get.
But keep your bright thoughts handy,
You might just catch it yet!

I think you've got me at a disadvantage here, feathers .. either I'm really dense or I'm not following. :)

Thanks once again, Bob. I smile to see your name, too, and am inspired by your positive outlook and your poetry. In fact, the above poem has me grinning!

Hoping your evening's a fine one... the sun's shining and skies are blue here in Brisbane, Australia... as befits a perfect autumn Friday arvo ("afternoon" in Aussie slang), so I wish you the same when your springtime Friday dawns...

Cheers,
KJ

Maybe not..

LOL. I think it was the song "FIRE" Sam and I heard on the radio the other day and your name came up. I forget who sang that. Darn. LOL.

I've noticed most people seem to think that poets cry out from a tortured, pain-filled soul.

I wrote more when I was going through turmoil and strife and dreaming of the way I wanted things to be and now content I write less. :-(

Good gracious, feathers, I'm so sorry! I missed the title! It's very nice!

It was heard they said
in parting of the way
thou art my sinew
I am the bone
thus it shall be for us the
Ghosts of Glen Gaul Way.

The evening mist glides through the glen
seeking, touching, as silent hands
Wet fingers leaving gentle drops
until they find the fallen man.

The fingers stop, they see his face
drawn and slumped in lost repose
With pity, they resume their pace
but softly, weeping at his fate.

The wind now speaks, the mist does part
Recanting how the warrior fell
"Yet do not weep, he is not here -
"His soul is in my tender care."

The mist, now thinned by wind's advance
Retreats, and knows her work is done
The warrior sleeps, well guarded now
With tears adorned, but safely home.

This can be true. I think your muse is never far away. She will haunt another day.
