~The Dragon Flies' Lair Thread XI~
April 17, 2004 | bentfeather, and poets of the Dragon Flies' Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guides
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Hi, everyone! Hope your Thursday is off to a good start!

Here's my offering today:

The Burial of Love
Alfred, Lord Tennyson

His eyes in eclipse,
Pale-cold his lips,
The light of his hopes unfed,
Mute his tongue,
His bow unstrung
With the tears he hath shed,
Backward drooping his graceful head,
Love is dead:
His last arrow is sped;
He hath not another dart;
Go––carry him to his dark deathbed;
Bury him in the cold, cold heart––
Love is dead.
O truest love! art thou forlorn,
And unrevenged? thy pleasant wiles
Forgotten, and thine innocent joy?
Shall hollow-hearted apathy,
The cruellest form of perfect scorn,
With languor of most hateful smiles,
For ever write,
In the withered light
Of the tearless eye,
And epitaph that all may spy?
No! sooner she herself shall die.

For her the showers shall not fall,
Nor the round sun shine that shineth to all;
Her light shall into darkness change;
For her the green grass shall not spring,
Nor the rivers flow, nor the sweet birds sing,
Till Love have his full revenge.

The Rainbow And Real Fun

The weave of romance, friendship and love
Always alive, moving with the two
Their hopes and sharing
The strength and warmth
Each can give Each can be free
And then the play unfolds
When each can
Live for the other
Nurturing and inspiring
Only the problems unforgiven
Could end . . .

The rainbows and real fun
The times outdoor and flush
With each other and breezes
The light fills both lives
A beach is the edge of their one heart
The sky the cover of the naked
Excitement and delight
In giving
Giving
Giving
If it isn't giving
It isn't living

You must be in a fun mood today!

Who Me?

DID YOU EVER GIVE A HUG
TO A TINY LITTLE LADYBUG?

I THINK I'D GREET HER WITH A WAVE,
'CAUSE I'M REALLY NOT THAT BRAVE!

Morning Colonel.

Request to Cupid for revenge of his unkind love

Behold, Love, thy power how she despiseth,
My grievous pain how little she regardeth.
The solemn oath whereof she takes no cure
Broken she hath and yet she bideth sure,
Right at her ease, and little thee she dreadeth.

Weaponed thou art and she unarmed sitteth.
To thee disdainful all her life she leadeth,
To me spiteful, without just cause or measure.
Behold, Love, how proudly she triumpheth;
I am in hold but if thee pity meveth.

Go bend thy bow that stony hearts breaketh,
And with some stroke revenge the great displeasure
Of thee, and him that sorrow doth endure
And as his Lord thee lowly here entreateth.

Sir Thomas Wyatt

I'm in thread.
Have some small snippets of stuff that popped into my head, now I have ot make them make sense and flow.

This snippet is to the chorus section of the tune "Bother" by Stone Sour:

Give me all your love
Tell me all your dreams
Hold me close through the cold dark night
But please don't shatter me

Another snippet written to a different tune:

Ah you've broken me, down on bended knee
and what I feel inside
all I cannot hide
dark fields and lies
Out from your mouth, I'm chokin'
ripped from my heart, I'm broken
all I cannot be, what you meant to me
behind the scenes I see
stretched out in front of me
as I crawl over me
as you're wounding me down on bended knee
and I hear the lies
all I can't deny
dark fields and lies.

(It's to a tune by the band Seether. The words posted are by me though.)

Glad you like it, feathers! My muse has taken a little time off again. I really need to kick it back into shape. I hope yours will inspire (as it usually does!)

Muse comes and goes
she is a fickle lover
that's why we need the rose
with its sharp and pointed
thorns - like love to pick us
into shape causing words
to flow into the landscape
of sunsets and moody
blue nights
we need this muse
to see daylight.

Thanks!
I'm a musical klutz, can't sing, read sheet music, or play an instrument to save my life.
And I've tried describing the tunes and such to a couple people I know who CAN play amusic and sing.
They look at me like I'm melting.

Another one written at 3 IN THE MORNING *ugh* the other day:

you're not in my arms
as I count the fallin stars
the world is a matchbook pyre
I burned all my dreams
cause nothing's as it seems
I cannot count the scars
I reach for your face
but we're simply out of place
I'm here but why'm I not me?

Thanks.
I go through long 'dry spells' where there's no inspiration.
And whenI suddenly get inspiration, it's at 3 in the morning, or while I'm asleep and dreaming, or it will be a drawing instead of poetry.
*um-grr?*

I'm the type of guy that likes to roam around
I'm never in one place, I roam from town to town
And when I find myself I'm a-fallin' for some girl
Yeah, I hop right into that car of mine
I drive around the world
Yeah, I'm a wanderer, yeah the wanderer
I roam around-around-around

:-)
