My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guides we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

I know they will and it 's a small thing for me to do. I am getting my girls involved, also. We are sending off a huge box. I thank God we can do something for our Troops who put their life on the line moment by moment.

A narrow fellow in the grass
by Emily Dickinson
A narrow fellow in the grass
Occasionally rides;
You may have met him,--did you not,
His notice sudden is.
The grass divides as with a comb,
A spotted shaft is seen;
And then it closes at your feet
And opens further on.
He likes a boggy acre,
A floor too cool for corn.
Yet when a child, and barefoot,
I more than once, at morn,
Have passed, I thought, a whip-lash
Unbraiding in the sun,--
When, stooping to secure it,
It wrinkled, and was gone.
Several of nature's people
I know, and they know me;
I feel for them a transport
Of cordiality;
But never met this fellow,
Attended or alone,
Without a tighter breathing,
And zero at the bone.

A narrow fellow in the grass by Emily Dickinson
Note to bentfeather....
I find this poem to be mysterious and haunting. Who is the narrow fellow in the grass?
Several of nature's people
Who are these people??
I feel for them a transport Of cordiality;
Is she speaking of a dragonfly??
Her own shadow??
Whatever she saw scared her to the bone.

In the stillness of the garden, there was movement, and in the quiet of the theater, there was music. The ominous tones foretold what the new sounds portended. At first a glimpse, and then a transit of patterned, scaly skin. The music rose in volume as the large snake stopped, raising its head to test the air with a flicking, restless tongue. It moved ominously toward the human figure. Rearing dangerously when it got very close, it at last began circling the unencumbered foot of the statue, and moving upward around the leg. Again and again it circled the youthful limb, as if it had petrified its victim.

Thanks.
It's a sample of my prose. The intent was to be evocative, as it is a description of a movie trailer.
Emily's narrow fellow in the grass was obviously a snake. No other creature seems to fill us with such bone-chilling dread with just a glance. The other "people" are animals.
I like Miss Dickenson's writing, but she tended to be a little depressing at times, focussing on loss instead of joy.
You should always celebrate joy while you have it. There will inevitably be a time of loss.

Brightness The brightest silver trinket
That gleams beneath the light,
Will have a dark side under it,
A portion of the night.
Every joy you are to feel,
Will have an ending day.
Treasure brightness in the sun,
Make every moment pay.
The darks a time for dreaming,
As shadows dull the pain.
The essence of a treasure lost,
And things not seen again.

Icy eyes
like gems in morning dew drops
pictures of creatures
frozen on crystal raindrops
and splendor living on
new fallen snow
Love will be found shining
in a summer shower
and desire
in soft pines needles
